Was a top notch fight though!! I thought he landed enough to get him the win but the judges didn't see it that way. Guess that's just the way it goes sometimes

 

The Aussie & the Tongan Super Heavies smashed thier British Isle opponents last night, England & Scottland whilst the Kiwi destroyed the Canak.
After watching all bouts last night in the SH Div I would be surprised if the tylecwas not one by either of our 3 regional fighters.
If you get to see any of these replays you will greatly enjoy them......it was worth staying up till 3am.

Ogogo the Englishman next has the Nigerian guy that is KO'ing everyone inside 1 round.
This Nigerian has some mega power.
Middleweight from what i have seen is by far the strongest division at the Commonwealth Games

I watched the Middleweight round on FOX Delhi 3 last night.
They showed every matchup from 11.30pm till the early hours of the morning.

The Nigerian boy is 1 of the few i have seen who is really sitting on his punches & has that pro style.
I think Ogogo the Pom is going to be in some trouble.

Just watched Luke Jackson fight a english bloke in a quater final he put up a good effort and was the aggressor the entire fight but was just picked off at times by a taller and longer opponent.

Jason Maloney lost to Oteng Oteng (Botswana) 5:3
Ibrahim Balla lost to Tyrone McCullagh (Ireland) 7:2


Dane Mulivai VS Joshua Makonjio (Kenya) and Alexey Muhkin VS Paramjeet Samota (India) in the quarter finals to come.

 

Mulivai is guaranteed a bronze medal at least as he is through to the semi finals.

The exciting middleweight division has the quarters later this evening.

 

They just said on Channel 10 that the weight lifting and boxing is being shown next! w00t

 

Like most of us, watched the guys crash out, one after the other.

The Moloney twins were game and gave everything against slightly better opposition. But sadly:


Boxers leave Delhi empty handed

Australia's boxers have slumped to their worst Commonwealth Games performance in nearly 37 years with Russian-born Alexy Mukhin going down 7-4 to Indian super-heavyweight Paramjeet Samota in the quarter-finals at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium on Sunday.

The Canberra-based 29-year-old came racing out of the blocks and silenced the partisan home crowd when two huge left hooks powered into the Indian's body to give him a 2-0 lead.

However, Samota hit back, snatching the second round to open up a 4-3 lead, and with Mukhin tiring badly, the Indian picked him off with ease forcing referee Ray Morley to give him a standing count of eight, before the bell sounded to send the crowd wild.

Australia had always won a boxing medal at the Commonwealth Games since 1974 so assistant coach Don Abnett was bitterly disappointed with their performances which failed to yield a single medal this week.

"We had high hopes we really did, but we didn't have a lot of luck in the draw," Abnett said.

"If you look at the Englishman that Damien Hooper lost on a countback to, he went out there tonight and hammered a bloke 10-0, it could so easily have been the other way.

"But tonight I think Alexy probably paid for having a lack of fitness," Abnett said.

"We watched the Indian boy last night and he came home like a train, so we thought if Alexy could start very well we might have an early night.

"But unfortunately he was well beaten there, we can have no complaints about the scoring."

Earlier, there were also defeats for captain Luke Jackson who was outclassed by English fighter Thomas Stalker and also Dane Mulivai, who went down 7-4 to Kenya's Joshua Makonjio.

 

I dont care about the results in this competition. The scoring is just wack. I dont even care who wins and loses.

Last night i watched a mauritian kid...i think his name was st. Pierre. He lost 13-1. This kid had a great uppercut with both hands and landed a bunch of them. Nothing scored. He outworked the other guy in the final rd easily but didnt score a single punch.

Its ridiculous and a rort. Kids are getting beat 10-1 when its a back and forth close fight.

That st pierre kid is one of the better kids ive seen. I like him. This scoring just doesnt reward his efforts and skill.

 

Agree with you on the scoring Jet - overall it's been terribly inconsistent.

Why anyone would waste their time throwing a body punch is beyond me!

One of our guys launched a full blown body attack the other night - threw 6 to 8 big shots that all clearly landed - while the guy's opponent maintained his peek-a-boo defence - and not a point!

 

Yeah, I guess we'll never know the reason for the fight - but bottom line is look after the tools.

Continually hear of footballers etc punching windows and severing nerves etc - dickheads!
