""Ricky did everything, but I thought the referee had a part in this fight," he told Sky Box Office. "He had become desperate and a desperate man is easy to catch."
The ref was much too involved, and I honestly think that he changed the course of the fight when he took a point from Ricky. He was doing great up to that point, and the fight was going in his direction. Although.. I made money off of Floyd winning... it still isn't cool to see a ref interfering with a fight so much.
This is a boxing match, not wrestling. The ref did his job. He stopped Hatton from doing his dirty tactics :yep ^
I think it was petulant and irrational for Hatton to shove PBF and throw a punch at the back of his head, though Floyd did turn his back on Hatton it was unnecessary. I agree Cortez should not have taken a point but other than that I didn't see what the British pundits were aggrieved about. Jim Watt was making out like the fix was in and Hatton been stiffed. Simply not the case. Mayweather was just far too good.
Keep the excuses coming please. Looks as though you people forgot how the Tszyu fans felt when he met Hatton when the referee allowed Hatton to headbutt, elbow, low blow, shove, rabbit punch, clinch whenever Tszyu positions his self to land.....and the list is endless. Cortez doesn't allow Hatton to punch and grab and he's a dickhead, huh?
I agree but it wasn't the ref that Knocked Ricky down. You can't take anything away from Mayweather for that fight.
Be fair mate. Kostya wads fighting dity too and Floyd was last night. The reason I am pulling you up is because you say that Ricky was purposely headbutting but you are forgetting that Rick cuts so easy, he can't headbutt as he will come off worse. Floyd was the better fighter last night. That's all there is to it.
I am fair and even though your reply is respectful which I highly appreciate but I'll have to tell you that there is no way in hell I'll forget what happened the night he met Kostya, NO ****ING WAY. Hatton cheated from start to FINISH and the British commentators/media LOVED IT, when Kostya nailed Floyd and dropped him with a CLEAR body shot they yelled "THAT IS A LOW BLOWWWWWWW" but when Hatton retaliates and CLEARLY THROWS A ****ING LOW BLOW they yell "KOSTYA IS DOOOOOWWWWN". And they just kept praising Hatton's BULL**** cheating tactics even though the Australian commentator pointed them out over and over sitting next to the British guy but was left ignored. They just DESPERATELY allowed the guy to get away with all the cheating tactics to give him the win, and against who?, a shot 35 year old Kostya and the ****ing fight was still CLOSE. The cheating tactics there were endless and I've seen the fight live and over a thousand times, it was BULL****. Hatton did prove to be the better man in the end but he didn't use tactics that should've been allowed.
common scar, your picking the bits you want and leaving the rest? or did your eyes not see mayweather contantly sticking his elbow in richards face? or did you miss the fact that in the first 6 rounds mayweather was as happy to duck below the waste line and come up under rickys arms and then look at the ref like it was ricks fault? let me say this loud and clear BOXING IS NOT A TICKLING MATCH, and fighters should be given the opertunity to work out of grappling situations, there are differences between spoiling and inside positioning and fighting. i take nothing away from mayweather, i think he would have won the fight no matter what happens, he is a true class act. but for you to suggest that the ref wasnt a compleate prat is just wishful thinking on your part. BOTH fighters did some dodgy and questionable stuff, my problem is with the fact the ref was only warning one of them, and was constantly on the case of one and basically the other could do no wrong. cortez would not allow the fight to flow and needs to take a long look at his judgement of situations, he's deffinatly performed beter than he did lastnight. dont be ****ing blind scar, i expect better from you. on the flip side, mayweather showed exactly what kind of champion he is, i thought for the first 6 rounds it was pretty close and by round 7 i had floyd up, but it was very competative. at that point however, ricky became reckless, and with the point off, he became even more reckless and frankly you get reckless with mayweather, your gonna pay - cause floyd is just THAT GOOD. Floyd made me a 110 % fan with his class out of the ring lastnight and of course inside it. anyhow, back to the point, if you cant see that cortez was blind to the infractions from the mayweather camp you need to watch the tape again. i dont however think it would have mattered to the out come as rick would have had to become reckless sooner or later anyhow, its just the ref dictated when that happened when he needent have, cause frankly little floyd had it on the time table anyhow.
Ricky was getting handled even befor the point deduction. The 5th round was the only one I scored for Hatton. He just wasn't landing any clean pucnhes. A couple of the rounds they would just wrestle for 2 minutes and then Floyd would win the round with 3 or 4 clean shots at the end of the round. Just look at the punchstats, Ricky can't win rounds by grappling. In boxing you win rounds by landing punches, he didn't do that.
and and scar btw, i aint ragging on you here dude. i'll watching the tape again to see how much **** i am talking and how much sense i am talking Still i wanna say that Floyd deserves every bit of props, i think hatton made him work harder than he has worked in years and my god was he up to the challenge.
The thing is the ref did in my opinion slow the momentum down of ricky hatton yes. We all know hatton likes to constantly apply the pressure and he never really had a chance to do that consistantly so it broke his rhythem. However the result would have been the same because when the referee stopped dicking about mayweather started to land and land and land.
