CBS owns Showtime but CBS does not promote showtime's boxing fights. Most free tv networks think that boxing is dead. the last time CBS featured a boxer on one of its programs was in 60 Minutes with Pacquiao. Now CBS offered to do a promotion and several features on Pac-Mosley because they think Pac has a compelling story and would cross-over to mainstream awareness

so if this big cbs promotion which will go out to over 100 million homes is good enough could the fight be sold to these same 100 million homes ? or would it just go out showtimes 13 million homes ? ?

it only means more people will be able to watch pac-mosley documentary and other features on CBS prime time programming. As to how many would be enticed to buy the fighton PPV is another thing. But boxings fans were thrilled when they got to see Pac being featured on CBS' 60 minutes. Now they won't just see another 60 minutes feature, they'd get to watch 4 documentary installments on free tv

the fight would be on showtime PPV, you don't need to be a showtime subcriber to buy a PPV

wow this is awesome especially since you can see how the 24/7 shows on hbo were able to generate the kind of hype that sell over 1 million ppvs imagine the hype the cbs documentary shows will generate ? am i right in thinking only hbo's 28 million homes can watch the 24/7 series ?

I guess because in recent years (post Tyson), virtually all of the big names in Boxing have been tied to HBO due to HBO's larger budget. Showtime is backed by a monster, but that monster doesn't shell out as much for their Boxing program as HBO.

yeah i get it now man. its crazy to think that showtime could take over the ppv market if only the monster thier backed by went in full force to boxing programming. cbs can clearly promote it to a wider audience therefore enticing more people to buy it

i think as a general rule the big networks have shied away from boxing since Tyson because it's not family friendly.

But you put guys like Mosley and Pacquiao, and you have two fighters who not only have fan friendly styles inside the ring but who also have a good image outside the ring.

"I'll **** you till you love me ******" is not the kind of **** CBS wants on their network.
