So, why didn't Anthony Joshua go? Was he not ranked highly enough? Surely he was good enough...if all the press he's getting is true, spanking Fury and all that. Would have been fun to see him spark a few fools in this.
He obviously lost, but I put at least some of that down to landing several scoring shots and getting **** all.... plus his opponent was either running or holding the entire fight and should have been thrown out. In fairness the judging in this event has been much better than in the Olympics, a few iffy moments (today seems very iffy) but generally the right man has ended up winning.
Surely they inform somebody though, or day they literally just wait to the moment of the fight and then presume he's not turning up?
I don't know. Maybe he was ranked ahead of him officially, but Boxing News had him ranked 2 places ahead of Isa...Plus Joshua won the recent ABA's in style, so despite him being a relative novice, you would have thought he would have been first choice :conf
I think I have seen it before you still have to go to the ring so the referee can announce it, the commentators didn't seem to know what was going on so it could of been a last minute job.
Haven't seen too much of it,but who does it looks like would do well if turned pro? From what I've seen before I always thought saunders would, was suprises he didn't after olympics he's quality to the body.
Usually the judges are pretty bad at scoring body shots, but they're often pretty damn iffy when it comes to the head shots in this Games too.
This fight is awful!! Simmons is not boxing at all, This ward guy is pretty poor and simmons should be beating him fairly easily
From watching that fight and the english fighter Vanillys (spelling) quarter, England should win gold in the Heavyweight division, all that ward boy did was keep his guard up and his head on Simmons head. Cant believe simmons threw it away like that.
