I'm talking about Ogogo's fight against the Indian.

 

i know..I copped that after I posted a reply. Then I edited the reply..

 

without doubt he scored against the Indian. But I am not sure he won that either. The penalties the Indian picked up were soft.

He was disrespectful after that fight as well and just for good measure did the same today - a thoroughly unlikeable chap.

No class, no gold, just desserts.

Apart from that, it was great day in the ring - with one from each country really impressing me.

Step forward -

Callum Johnson - wow! totally overwhelms and out thought one of the best fighters there in Tommy McCarthy

Simon Vallily - at his destructive best

Sean McGoldrick - plenty more to come from that lad.

Paddy Gallagher - an unlikely medallist, I couldnt believe he made the final. When he did he forced himself on Smith and took the fight from him by taking the fight to him.

 

Gallagher impressed me too.

Smith let him have it all his own way for much of it..... standing there throwing arm punches that were easy for the judges to ignore rather than getting some leverage on his shots.

The Irish lads really seemed to have had the scoring system sussed throughout the tournament, for that the credit must go to the coaches. Have a high and tight guard, picking your punches properly.

Definitely something that all nations can learn from..... that and not bouncing around like a duracell bunny constantly.

Vallily was impressive from our squad, hopefully Warren picks him up - think he's got a future in the pros.

Calm down though, it's only the Commonwealth Games.

 

I mean, has India really become a force in boxing (I hope they do with their huge population)?! or is it much to do with home advantage.

 

not suprising as theres around 7 million people living in London and only 1.7 in northern ireland...in fact theres more people in London than the whole of Ireland.

The AIBA website has full world amateur rankings on PDF...they only update them once a month though.

there defo gettin much better id say in few years theyllbe stronger
some of there boxers looked fairly good but alot of biased judgeing in ther fights
i dont know if its the crowd and every time they trow a punch the crowd makes noise if that might have to do with the judges pressing the button because we all know der not home town judges and find it unlikely ders brown envolopes been passed

p.s come on the lads from n.ireland i know it was only the commonwealths but they all looked fairly impresive over the course of the games

the lad hooper who ogogo was complainin about being difficult was betean by joe ward from ireland in the youth world final 6-1 goin to be alot of competition at the irish senior championships next year i honestly couldnt pick a winner in one of them at this stage

 

in the Singh fight Ogogo did land a few that should've probably scored, as did Singh, though apart from Singh leaning on him all the time, i still didnt have Ogogo winning it on points at all and it was a complete shock when he got awarded the second set of 2 points in the closing seconds

 

Question on the N.I lads, can ROI citizens box for them?

 

actually I am not sure what the criteria for qualification is.

 

didn't some of their boxers do well in beijing olympics?

 

I presume if Mcguigan fought in a commonwealth games then maybe it's possible...
