What can I say? Anyone who does not know how good Golovkin is does not know anything about boxing. There was no real comparison. Golovkin's defense was excellent, esp. for such an aggressive fighter. Watch those fights and compare. So much hate for Golovkin, by some, on this board, mostly the same who hate the Klitschkos, Kovalev, Boytsov, Pulev, ad infinitum, whatever, Martinez is a very good fighter, but Golovkin made it look so easy. Golovkin's people are trying to get fights with the other champions. I just watched both fights on my DVR, WOW, no comparison.

Martinez went life and death with him, GGG steamrolled him in 3. Completely obliterated the guy.

Manny beat Cotto much more easily than Floyd beat Cotto. So Manny beats Floyd? Comparing fights to come to a conclusion who would hypothetically beat who suggests YOU'RE the one that doesn't know anything about boxing.

    2 completely different fighters different

Marravilla is an in-and-out tuype of fighter, who danced around the ring the whole fight, which made the bout close, because MM was game, GG is a pressure fighter who broke Macklin down with crisp, hard shots, which Macklin couldn't handle

martinez is a former welterweight who fought at junior middle and who is an OLD and small middleweight. GGG is a full fledged middleweight and 31. really stupid comparison on which round or who looked more impressive winning.

GGG KOs Martinez. And I didn't need the Macklin fight to make up my mind..........Been saying this for well over a year now.

Martinez will duck this man if he is smart. That will be the end of him.

one fight is not enough to make the comparison. Let GGG face another top level guy at 160 like Chavez jr. If he can outbox 2 different guys much better than Martinez then maybe you are right.

no, it doesnt suggest that. those type of comparisons arent always correct, but more often than not, they are. just because a few fighters in certain rare occasions bucked the trend, doesnt mean that such comparisons have no value.
people jump on popular sayings about boxing and just take it as gospel without actually considering how much truth is actually in the saying. yes, styles play a part in how some fighters do against certain opponents, but that is only one variable among many that determine such outcomes.
the way in which these 2 fighters handled macklin is a pretty good indicator of how much sergio has lost and how much of a disadvantage he would be against ggg.
