Clottey had little trouble defeating Zab Judah in 2008. How does Zab compare to Pacqiuo? I don't think that Pac is faster than Judah, and Clottey was able to slow down Zab with good body work and accurate punching. His footwork was also very technical against Zab he showed that fighting Southpaws isn't going to be a problem with him. Now Pac is definitely more durable than Judah, but I don't even think he is as elusive as Zab. Zab avoided a lot of punches from Clottey but the power behind Clotteys connects took their toll. I think Zab had the wrong approach trying to Jab Clottey, but Clottey covered up and was unnaffected by Zab's combos. Are we really supposed to believe that Pacs combos are going to do more against Clotteys chin? Zab basically made Clottey look like the welter weight Arthur Abraham. Pac hasn't fought anyone defensive in a while, and he hasn't done a lot of rounds in a while. This fight could get real interesting in the later rounds if Clottey can employ this strategy avoid big shots, avoid awkward angles and work Pacs body. We all know that Texas is infamous for their judging, so Clottey really has no choice but to KO Pac. Watching what he did to Zab he may just have a shot at it. PS can't they just stage the Margarito fight from a barge on international waters for the undercard? who cares about John Duddy.
Judah done got into an early lead and then like always faded late on. Pacquiao doesn't fade, in fact.. he probably gets better as the fight progresses.
Judah and Pacquiao are nothing alike. Pacquiao has great stamina, mental strength and a strong chin. You wont see Pac chicken dancing or trying to take the easy way out of a fight or gas after 12 minutes. The speed is close but it means little because Judah only throws counter uppercuts he doesnt put the combos together that Pacquiao does and doesnt have that versatilty in his punches neither. Judah is a athleticly gifted fighter but not a great fighter just a good one he has to many flaws. Pacquiao is a rare, special kind of great fighter.
PAC is better in pretty much every catergory , but the main difference will be seen in pac's variety and angles in his punches . Not to mention his movement too. Judah is pretty flat footed and pacquiao couldn't be more different.
I don't know if you watched the Clottey Judah fight but what I am pointing out is that even when Judah was moving around Clottey's good footwork was able to take away a lot of the angles. Pac will have to be on his bicycle to win this one because he will fade. What makes people say Pac won't fade? Last time he went the distance was when he got a present against JMM. Also has anyone seen Clottey fade late in a fight? This is not going to be a cake walk.
Clottey could beat Pac, but Team Pac has done all they can to stack the deck -- Clottey has no coach -- Clottey is not training in his normal gym -- Clottey lost his main sparring partner -- Pacquiao hired Clottey's main sparring partner Pac is a fraud. (And for the record, Judah is faster than Pac ever was.)
Comparing any version of Judah to Pacquiao is laughable, IMO. (To start Zab misses the key ingredient that makes Manny "Heart")
A couple of main differences here. 1) Pacquiao has retained his handspeed and power moving up in weight, but is still behind welterweight Judah in both categories. 2) Emmanuel Dapidran is a twelve round fighter (hell, he could probably be a 15 round fighter); Zabdiel is not.
SHort memory. Clottey won a technical decision by scores of 86-85 twice and 87-84 on the judges' cards.
he won a technical decision in a fight that should've been a TKO and that he was taking over and it was obvious that he was gonna win. short memory
