Amsterdam predicts Calzaghe TKO 3 Pavlik. If memory serves me right, that's about as far as Manfredo made it.:rofl :rofl :rofl
Jack Leow compared Lockett to Zertuche, and Zuniga scored a very clear decision against Zertuche in the 2nd fight.
He still won around 9 rounds, that's better than what Pavlik would have done at 175 vs. B-Hop at 175. Styles make a big difference, Pavlik plays right into Joe's preferred style, which is acting as the matador and showering an opponent coming at him with a swarm of punches behind a jab, instead of having to press and go after B-Hop. Plus, B-Hop came in there just to foul up the fight, not to win, if a fighter is allowed to hold constantly and get away with it, then it's rare anybody gets the oppurtunity to get enough work in to look impressive. But if you noted when B-Hop tried to press, he was quickly moved back into defensive positioning as Calzaghe would land a shot or two and have control of the positioning and in fighting when B-Hop tried to press forward against Joe, or simply even hold his ground in the middle of the ring. Is Pavlik going to do anything but come forward and present an easy to tag target?:think
Pavlik has a much worse chin than Manfredo. You can say what you want about Manfredo, as nobody regards him as anything more than a B- fighter, but a great chin he does have, the guy's never even been down and look who he's been in the ring with at size disadvantages. And the TKO 3 is a prediction based off of what I have seen against Taylor, a target that bruises and cuts easily, that gets stunned by quick shots and who is susceptable to a stiff jab, Joe's left hook when fully sat down on, is more powerful than anything in Taylor's arsenal... BUT, he did get the oppurtunity to sit down on it against Hopkins, he landed a really good stiff straight left against Hopkins in round 8 was it and it didn't hurt Hopkins, but it made him blink and then he held. Then of course we have the body shot he landed on Kessler, a sat down left and it stunned Kessler, but it was to the liver. He hits harder than Taylor and is quicker and more accurate, that's the point.
Let me ask you brother, would Calzaghe have any trouble stopping Kassim Ouma or Cory Spinks? Taylor is a very average hitter and had your guy reeling, accept it. Even in Taylor's stoppage victories, it was over smaller 154 pounders and he had to land an accumulation. Take when he fought shot Raul Marquez, took him 9 rounds to stop him, took Vargas 5 over a prime Marquez.... Vargas would classify as a very small MW.
I've said it before, I watched Cal/Kess back to back with Pav/Tay II. Taylor was the fastest of the 4.
Will Cal take a look at the Lockett fight as an indication or do you think he feels Lockett wouldn't be a good indicator anyhow? Unless Joe fights Jones at 168 it won't be for belts. Will this come into play?
We know you hate Taylor, but do you really believe you saw the same Taylor in the second fight? Stewart is looking to be a bad fit for several people when it comes to stamina. Maybe it isn't his emphasis in camp and leaves that to the fighter? Who knows, but, Taylor was the best he had been in a while.
