    Pac v Diaz didn't do good ...

*Margarito v Cotto ... no one knows who Magarito is
*Marquez v Casamayor ... no one knows who Casamayor is
*Mosley v Mayorga ... no one gives a **** about either fighter and this fight should be on B.A.D
*Calzaghe v Jones ... no one really knows who Calzaghe is and Jones isn't a PPV draw anymore

I can't see any of those fights selling over 200k buys ... if some reach that ...

Marquez v Casamayor and Calzaghe v Jones is back to back weeks ...

I know these fights reach different demographics but i'm not sold on those fights being PPV worthy ... i've seen better fights than that in the past.

Outside of Cotto (strong maybe) ... none of those guys are PPV draws ... and Cotto will still need another big named opponent to sell decent #'s

I attribute that to weak undercard's..
Marquez v Casamayor could have easily been a Co-main event to
    Calzaghe v Jones.

How big a draw is Hatton PPV in the US?

Over here the last few on PPV (as opposed to Setanta) have been well over 1m

    1. Cotto and Hoya would do very well
    2. Jones vs Cal has a chance, but what u said is true, but they need to hype up this fight big time. Plus having two PPV in the same month is dumb.

Don't forget that the economy is a lot worse now than it was a year ago. Gas and food prices up 30% probably pinches a lot of people who would otherwise buy PPVs.

That said, I think Margo-Cotto and Jones-Calzaghe will both crack 200k buys.

Unless they market it heavily or it has a great undercard, Marquez-Casamayor might not crack 100k.

    Great Point !! :good

Thats another thing as well ... these undercards are weak as **** ...

The strongest card this year was Taylor v Pavlik II ... solid undercard and solid mainevent.

Casamayor isn't a big draw and has never been on PPV before ... how are you going to introduce a guy to PPV when most people haven't even seen him on HBO. He's been on HBO (1nce) ... and when he was on the undercard of a PPV he left a sour taste in peoples mouths getting a gift against Santa Cruz.

The economy has nothing to do with it ... bad match making ... bad undercards ... and no PPV worthy fights.

Of course it does. It's hurting sales for all other sporting events, why wouldn't it hurt sales for Boxing PPVs?

Its not hurting other sports ... but if its promoted right, fans would do what it takes to make the event.

HBO isn't going to do anything to promote Calzaghe v Jones ... its a week after Marquez v Casamayor ... i'm sure that either or both fights will have terrible numbers.

ARE YOU ******ED? The economy isn't hurting Boxing? LOL...Cotto-Margarito won't crack 200K PPV? LOL...Jones-Calz won't crack 200PPV?...LOL...Yes the other cards you mentioned are not PPV worthy but to say the above things you stated are way off!!!!!!!
