Mosley and Mayorga are both big names in the sport and just putting them together in a fight will do altleast 300,000 buys. People do know Calzaghe now ******* thanks to fighting a guy everyone knows in Hopkins and Jones isnt a draw anymore then why did him and Tito just do 500,000 ? All Jones needs is to fight big names and tickets will sell and PPVs will be bought.

The sad thing about is that Calzaghe-Jones will probably get the most buys.

The highest out of all those fights will probably be 250k buys ... its not because of the economy.

Who would watch two guys over 35 yrs of age ... years past their prime duke it out in a boxing match?

I would but not everyone would ... people are aware that Jones is old ... people are aware that Calzaghe isn't that entertaining ... why the **** would HBO waste a 24/7 on a fighter who has never been on PPV no more ... no one knows his personality ... he might not have one ... if they do that ... that may kill the numbers overall.

Casamayor v Marquez isn't going to do that many buys ... I can't see 100k people picking up that fight ...

Mosley is coming off a loss ... why would someone want to watch him fight Mayorga? ... he's not Tito and he's not DLH ... that fight wouldn't do 100k buys. Mayorga v Vargas didn't do that much ... and I know that Vargas has a big fan base. This fight should be on B.A.D like I had mentioned before.

Calzaghe v Jones should be on W.C.B and the undercard should be JMM v Casamayor ... two guys that have never headlined a PPV card before. When Marquez fought Pac ... most of the people tuning in where Pac fans ...

I'll find the thread but some people seemed convinced that Margarito vs. Cotto will do more than 300K.

the only PPV this year to have done well was Jones vs. Trinidad.

This should tell these asswipe of promoters (Golden Boy included) that some of these cards AREN'T PPV worthy.

Roy Jones being on his typical bull**** ... not showing up for Pressers ... coming late for pressers ....

They had a count down on his fight v Tito and he showed zero personality ... people just tuned in because it was a fight that was in that making several years ago and the anticipation was still there ... plus Tito can sell 350k buys (minimum) against anyone. Before that Jones did a PPV that barely sold 50k buys ...

Mayorga v Mosley might do well but i'm not going to bank on that ... I might not even order that fight.

this fight has some good selling poitn though... 2 legends who have been on a crash course for over 13 years....

    uk vs us

    p4p rankings

theres alot of engines for this fight... just depends if hbo puts them out there

im not saying it will reach the millions... but it could do in the mid 000's

and if mayorga is up to his usual bull****

smoking cigarettes and trying to start fights at press conferences

ill probably check it out... its never a good fight but it makes for excitement

The best card IMO was Taylor v Pavlik II .... Jones v Trinidad was a good card but I can't stand Don King cards because he always throws a weak ass HW fight on there.

I doubt that ... I'm not trying to hate because i'll order the fight but i'm not convinced that this fight has a chance of being promoted good.

Square Ring Promotions in association with Don King Productions ... ha ha ha ...

Walk with me ... you can't convince me that there's some good selling points for this fight.

    I guess 200k at the most ... Calzaghe isn't Ricky Hatton ...

IMO the average person is pretty ignorant of the state of most fighters. I think you're overrating the publics ability to determine what is a bit of a joke of a fight. Calzaghe vs Jones will do alright, the average person isn't knowledgeable enough to ascertain that Jones is shot to ****.

Also, you are kidding yourself if you don't think economic trouble is going to affect the PPV buys to some degree (be it big or small). Of course consumption of all types is going to be affected, why not PPV's? (I'm by no means saying this is the sole cause, most of what you said is true).
