Holmes, IMO had one of the most under rated Right crosses among Heavyweight champs.

I guess you got that video 'Pound for Pound', the one where Bill Cayton and Bert Sugar sit down and discuss the greatest fighter ever?

Holmes heavy jab neutralizes Ali's fast jab.

The problem now is neither guy was a real in-fighter, nor known for a body attack or left hook.

I know Holmes wouldn't be scared of Ali.

Ali's biggest asset to me is in the "judging".

    Ali by split decision.

Ali would defintley beat holmes. Key factor is Right Hand. Ali had an unbelievable 2 punch combo with his straight right(see folley match) that he could get on ANYBODY. Holmes, a huge sucker for right hands, would get it with that combo everytime he jabs..his whole face would be cut open after 10 rounds. I think Larry has the heart to make the finish line but Ali wins this in one sided fashion. Holmes tried to copy ali his whole career, but Ali was faster and just plain better.

It's funny, I've really never made Ali's right a big factor in this match-up before, but of course it is. He didn't have the hardest right of all HW champs, but quite possibly the most well-timed, fastest and most accurate.

Looking At the greats vs. each other rises some real surprizes!!You almost always Think of Ali the greatest. But when you sit down and really ananlayze it Larry comes out on top!!:patschAs far as the right hand thing goes I think when you compare Alis you have to go with Alis being in COMBOS category. Who ever said Holmes had the best right cross ever wasnt lying!!!!!:patschWOW!!!!!:hi:

In my own honest and humble opinion, we can break down the tangibles/intangibles all day, but (and as i say just an opinion) for me in terms of effectiveness I give Ali a slight edge. It really is about effectiveness when all is said and done.
