Looking at the potential match up between Velasquez and dos Santos , this should be the biggest HW fight in MMA history , given that these men are re defining the modern day HW , HOWEVER they dont have a patch on Fedor and Nogueira in terms of the AURA these men bring / brought into the ring / cage , they just dont compare , there tremendous fighters yes but they dont have that special super star appeal that Fedor and Nogueira had as HW's . You dont get that special feeling when these men enter the arena , the hairs dont stand up on the back of your neck , obviously when they actually begin fighting you get the sense that these two are special fighters but im talking plain and simple image and aura !!!

I mean very few fighters these days do , think about it , Rampage , Penn , Shogun , Wanderlie , GSP (to a degree) , Silva all fighters with that aura that just comes naturally (and are still active) were you just want to tune in , your just interested because these men command a presence , these guys are leaving the sport pretty soon (GSP aside) and we'll be left with Edgar , Jon Jones , Maynard , Lesnar , Fitch and the likes :think ..........

    Gentlemen discuss ..............

    overeem has it!

If overeem destroys Werdum then goes on to win the strikeforce tournement he will be that guy. Of course that is a lot of if's but the aura is there for sure.

Cain's developing one, Im not sold on the hype yet though. Boy's good, but how good we will find out if/when he beats JDS

And like Yaca said Reem too. Never match the Fed/Nog aura imo, but they are the two guys

Now get them in the cage already!

IF The Reem wins the GP, him Vs the winner of Cain-JDS is gonna' be a super fight!

Jon Jones has it. Ever since he destroyed Bonnar I'd get excited for days before his fights.
JDS has it for me as well. There's something vicious about the way he walks into the cage and throws down when they call out his name.

These two guys are pretty much the most technical Heavyweights in the short history of MMA. If not the two, they occupy two of the top three spots.

Easily the best Heavyweight fight in MMA history from a techncial perspective.

Cain and JDS are little more than two elite heavyweights. You're right in saying they dont have that aura Fedor and Big Nog had (and Cro Cop, and Wanderlei....

    Jone Jones has it

    Anderson Silva has it

thats why they need to make that fight more than any other

Jone Jones vs anyone else seems a mismatch
Anderson vs anyone else seems a mismatch

that aura that anderson brings made we want to see the fight even more :D

i dont think Cain or JDS has got that kind of aura yet (mostly Cain) cuz they havent been in that many fights and they havent found out their right feel

lesnar had a bad ass aura for a little while there.
even his ring walks were ****ing scary. cain diminished it a fair bit though

Fedor only had 14 fights the first time him and Nog fought, the same as JDS now.

    Edit:

I actually do agree with you, for some reason they both feel younger, like they're still establishing themselves, even though they're roughly the same age as Fedor and Nog were during their fights in Pride.
