No disrespect intended, but have you got any links to any data which show evidence of this? What you describe is a reasoning argument. And I'm not saying you're wrong. But I'm going to put an alternative reasoning argument. What we do know is that what injures the brain is violent movement of the head. it is inertia of the brain. The head moves violently and the brain stays where it is and is then crashed into by the inside lining of the skull which is full of complicated bone structures. This is pure physics, acceleration and deccelaration. the shock wave of a lightly padded MMA glove must be more violent than a boxing glove, although the punching force is the same. the foam of the boxing glove must slow deccelaration of the head, because it deforms on impact. try hitting a brick with a hammer, and then do the same thing with a layer of foam over the brick. the bottom line is, both types of strikes are bad for the brain. I don't think anyone should be lulled into thinking MMA striking is more healthy for the brain.
No studies, but look at the average number of punches to the head taken by an MMA fighter compared to a boxer.
The most "stunning" part of the night for you was the Boxing? You must be joking though, Nate was slapping and getting no leverage behind his shots at all. I suppose in the context of MMA, that is probably the least embarrassing use of punching we've seen recently, but stunning would be going to far. I'm not going to lie, I wanted to see that Diaz kid lose badly. He comes across as an *******, doesn't seem all that civilized of a human being.

Davis certainly looked like the elephant man after the fight though for just getting slapped around. The result of a slap? I don't think so. With that being said, I despise the Diaz brothers as well. This content is protected
I think through large portions of the latter stages of the fight, Nate resorted to slapping with his shots. That said, this guy sounds like he has a great appreciation for the notable art. I wonder if he watches Boxing? Sounds like he'd like it, we often see "stunning" displays.
He definitely landed some significant shots though to have inflicted that kind of damage. I haven't seen a face like that in a long time, if ever. I've heard of boxers being accused of slapping as well. That's what some have said about Joe Calzaghe for example. The Diaz brothers are indeed arrogant disrespectful pricks. I want Mayhem Miller (from Bully Beatdown) to get his rematch.
You would never hear me describe Joe Calzaghe's technique as being stunning. He doesn't punch, he slaps. He doesn't throw combination's, he flurries. Not a fighter I take pleasure in watching a great deal of, admittedly. Nate should take his "stunning" boxing to the ring. :yep Of course I'm joking, send that kid to a psychiatrist.
Calzaghe may slap and flurry but how many losses has he had? What does that say if anything about boxing? I don't know, I'm just asking the question. I never said that it was a stunning performance by Diaz. But on the other hand, you won't be such a stunning and technically sound boxer the first time that you take a vicious kick or two to the leg or abdomen while you're waiting to throw your punch. Your defense softens up REAL fast when that happens and those arms drop down to protect. After a few more shots you start to really favor the effected areas. Then after being sufficiently weakened, taken down and exerting an amazing amount of energy fighting for position you won't have much power left in your punches anyway (if you're even lucky enough to stand back up) as David Haye has pointed out in his MMA training. Especially if your legs have already had the living **** kicked out of them. Most punching power is derived from the legs as you surely know. A fighter in MMA understands this at all times so it's completely unfounded to compare their striking abilities to a boxer in a boxing ring. If the Diaz brothers began training in boxing at a young age and focused on nothing else it would probably be a different story anyway.
I believe you Diaz brothers are dickheads. I don't know the ins and outs. you sound like a fighter fan, and you will know that each boxers style is as unique as a fingerprint, and Diaz's punching is something special in my view. incidentally I think it takes a lot of guts to stay in the pocket with those 4 ounce gloves major respects to those that stand and trade. Incidentally some of my favourite strikers are, Machida, BJ Penn, Martin Camfman, Anderson Silva, to name a few, and I particularly like Rich Franklins lead arm downward counter hook. PS, I Love boxing also but where can I see it???
