I think you need a geography lesson. Either that or a reading lesson. This is the post I was responding to:

    Is Manny Pacquiao an American?
Is the Philippines part of America?

Therefore, my opposition to this post was justified, wasn't it? :patsch:patsch

where are they based? where do they fight? ring rankings are (to a fairly large extent) used to hype fights in america for american tv & ppv.if a guy said that it's only about hyping americans...it's not...it's about hyping the product in america. for example has there EVER been a ring p4p number 1 who wasn't based primarily in america?

i don't blame ring for this.they are an american based magazine primarily concerned with the american market...but people who treat ring rankings like they are gospel & can't see the faults in them are deluded.

This boxer was ranked by ring and Hopkins fought him, do me a favour, some people really are thick or let me be kind by saying some people are easily led.

So you agree with me that the original post was wrong then? That's all I was saying, and I was right. :smoke

Does it ever occur to you that the p4p#1 is always based in America because the vast majority of top fighters fight there, and because the biggest money is there? Who exactly do you think has been the p4p#1 from outwith America who has been denied the crown because of geography?? You'd need to go all the way back to Carlos Monzon and Eder Jofre to even try and come up with an answer.

The p4p#1, in my lifetime, has always been the true p4p#1, irrespective of geography or corruption.

tbf the ring scandal was a long time ago...no-one at the magaine is fabricating results to manipulate rankings...the bias is much more subtle now...but very definitely there.

While both guys each have the long string of defenses, Hopkins did his alone in his division. Joe C and Sven were 'racking up' title defenses concurrently. Hard to take that serious.

Where did I say Ring rankings are totally unbiased? :huh

You are making things up now, in order to avoid acknowledging you jumped in with both feet and embarrassed yourself there.

    Poor.
