    Who was technically/fundamentally more sound?

    Who was more entertaining/exciting?

    Who had better overall resume?

Too me, Wilder was more right hand dominant where Mayorga was more of swarmer that had more power in his overhand right than his left.

Wilder was the much more dangerous man because of the power and range with his right hand. He could get you out of there with one punch where Mayorga was more of a slugging swarmer that beat you down with brawling, awkward style.

All that said, Mayorga had the best wins with those two wins over a prime Vernon Forrest but Wilder will be remembered as one of the greatest knockout artist ever.

Mayorga was more entertaining especially leading up to his fights. He loved playing mind games with his opponents and had a whole bag of antics.
Some were a little over the line imo like spanking Mosley's wife's booty. Things can go sideways pretty quick after doing that but luckily Mosely handled it in the ring.
In the ring Mayorga was an idiot when he would drop his hands and let the other fighter tee off on his face the way he did. He played into the whole Machismo thing in the ring and it was funny when it backfired.

Mayorga did more, has a better best win and landed a ton of good punches on many all timers. Knocking out Forrest in 3 rounds for the legitimate title, which Wilder never had, is the best win between them. Then the rematch win over Forrest is the second best win, and probably his win over Vargas the third best win. Wilder has beaten an old Ortiz twice, Stiverne, Arreola and that's it. I give Mayorga more credit for losing to Trinidad than 95% of Wilder's wins.

Technically, Wilder was probably more sound because he did have a jab but idk, it's close. I'd say entertainment and resumewise Mayorga is clearly better. I think Wilder has been around longer at the top level than Mayorga was, but didn't take nearly as many tough fights. It's close to me, but Wilder's power punching mystique and spending more time at the top level is good, too.

Wilder probably has the more interesting tools to beat more guys on a given night but Mayorga has an element of matchup hell for some far superior fighters (vernon forrest)

Pretty much how I feel...I had the pleasure of attending a Mayorga fight in Vegas, past his prime, when he fought Cotton, but he put on a show nonetheless

Mayorga was far more entertaining when he fought win or lose. And he also beat Vernon Forrest twice. That’s much better than twice beating Stiverne and Ortiz put together.

Plus, Wilder didn’t show the amount of craziness that Mayorga pulled.

I give him a lot of **** (deservedly) but Wilder was far better. He actually could jab (when he had no choice like when his right was injured), his 1-2 is good and crisp, and he was schooled well on how to maneuver the guard out the way with the left to land the right clean. And he had good footspeed (not footwork) compared to his contemporaries. Mayorga I don't think had an attribute I could appreciate.

We really shouldn't even know who Mayorga is...............he caught lightning in a bottle vs. Vernon, really lost the rematch, and he never actually did anything of note (in the ring) or even beat anyone noteworthy ever again but he was a name guys for years and years. That is crazy

I felt Mayorga earned a legit close win over Forrest in the return. He was also a little unlucky in the Spinks fight I felt.

I definitely thought Vernon was robbed and was just swept over by Mayorga-mania LOL.

Without the deductions, he beat Spinks but its in the books as a loss and even then................were it a win, Spinks ain't noteworthy

I re-watched not long ago, and felt the fight was there for Forrest but he stopped throwing and allowed Mayorga to outhustle him. Very close fight IMO.

Mayorga fought and beat much better competition than Wilder.
He also had better overall skills, and though he smoked like a chimney. Had better endurance and chin.
Wilder is one of the biggest frauds of the past 10yrs of boxing in my opinion.
