PBF is better overall compared to JMM. It's easy to end up with this conclusion if you watch enough of the two's fights.
:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl Hey yo, we are talking to mother****ers that seen the Baldomir and ODH fight only...lol..
PBF has insane handspeed that JMM just doesn't have. If JMM had PBF's handspeed he would be a ****ing monster. But both are very skilled. I think slight edge to JMM based on technical skills alone. PBF is more skilled on the inside, but JMM is more skilled at range. Overall JMM has a small edge.
Floyd has better defence than Marquez. Overall though, its pretty close. Marquez, while an amazing athlete in his own right never possessed the gifts that Mayweather did and still did pretty well for himself. I'd say slight nod to Marquez in technical ability but in an overall package Mayweather takes this.
Overall Floyd is a better fighter than JMM...JMM is a great counter puncher and that can be compared to Floyd..JMM has bad defense IMO..>He was knocked down a total of 3 times in 1 round...Floyd has been knocked down 1 time in his career cuz he took a knee from his hand being hurt....JMM is great at his weight and is a great fighter but Floyd has more natural talent and is a better athlete too!
Truer words have never been spoken! For a fighter as purely skilled as Marquez is......he is a rare breed. Fighters that are such adept at finding fighters mistakes and countering them, usually do only one of two things.... 1.They either carry a highworkrate but dont punch with tenacity. or.... 2.They get good leverage on their shots but dont carry a high workrate. JMM is a fighter that does both, he carries a highworkrate and he puts terrific leverage on his shots. I was always bewildered why so many posters here in the past criticized JMM for having a boring style.:huh On the thread topic, imo JMM is the better overall boxer.....not only is it just the counterpunching, but Marquez imo punches from more angles and there is more variety to his punch selection. The one monumental difference in comparing both fighters counterpunching is that Marquez is on the alert to counter at every single opening, where's Mayweather is fighter that picks and choses and goes out of his way not to expend more energy to win a round than he has too. I cant really fault Mayweather for his lower workrate.....it works for him......his shots usually are connecting effectively, and he does what he has to do to win. Mayweathers stingier workrate, allows him better opportunity to practice his defense......so sure, a great skilled fighter with a lower workrate is less apt to get hit. The bottom line is that they're both great at what they do. From my perpective, from the slight edge JMM has in pure boxing ability, Mayweather makes up for in his edge in speed and quickness.......so there is no right or wrong answer as to who would win a p4p h2h matchup. I will say that I'd favor the Mayweather that fought at 130 lbs, in a competitive fight to decision the 130 lbs JMM who beat Manny Pacquiao. .....that was a prime Mayweather, where's imo Marquez at that point has lost some of his speed, quickness, and reflexive ability that he carried through his late 20's. Prime for prime and h2h, its a marvelous tossup imo!
floyd is better skilled than marquez. both are technically sound, however floyd has better footwork, defence and lateral movement. marquez fights on the backfoot and has excellent timing, but does not have the coorrdination and fluidity that floyd has.
floyd and jmm are on equal par on boxing ability but floyd is alot more athletc which makes a big difference
Floyd has greater defensive abilities. JMM is better in a lot of other areas simply because he has got used to taking risks. Floyd doesnt take risks so he hasnt got into the positions JMM has been in. Floyd has shown that he can make his opponent fight his fight pretty much all the time. JMM is more likely to fight his opponents fight and has a great deal of success. Conclusion: its even, although JMM is the greater fighter because he leaves his comfort zone
