    According to some Gamboa's nuthuggers, there is no big difference between amateur and professional boxing, which is entirely bull****.

    The real question is that a vast experience in amateur fighting beneficial to a later professional boxing career. Fact would bear out that relatively there are only a few olympic gold medalist who are successful professional boxers (probably because most of them are cubans?).

    Um, dude...a lot of top boxers were Olympians, if not medalists. You'd be surprised by the people who have gone to the Olympics and were top level amateurs. Almost no top pro I know of wasn't a good amateur.
