oh yeah. scored it 4 times, worst i came up with was 7-5 for jones (twice) and 8-4 (twice). fact is tarver sat on the ropes for long periods and that hurt him. going into the 11th, fight was even. imo, jones fought HARD in the last two and took it on those rounds. if tarver had hit the gas and (i hate saying it) listened to mcgirt, he'd have won
Hey if any former middle super middle fought a guy of LL's size that would be incredible ..But he still fought way out of his confort zone in fighting at heavy ..But at the end of the day you make a valid point any of those fights enhances his legacy.Shame that we were denied them for the boxing bs that kills the sport .
exactly. have you seen the bryan brannon pre fight interview? he very calmly explains why many of the fights he wanted didn't happen. none of those reasons have ever been denied by the other fighters...roy wanted to fight the best (most of the time) but people forget fighters didn't want to fight roy
What people seem to to do is blame a fighter for not making a fight based on Bias ..I think people should look at the whole situation as opposed to blaming the guy they don't like..It takes two to tango! Every time the DM situation is brought up its Roy's fault Roy's fault ..Hbo even brought him up by why weren't they giving him the exposure he needed if he were this monster that Roy needed to fight ? They knew what he was but just used him to bait Jones because they were pissed for all the money they were sinking into him . .DM was no viable threat at the time but more of an HBO hype machine that they only supported from a distance because they couldn't get any other name .. Even though I hate Tarver if it had not been for him Roy may have retired with an almost unblemished record ..HBO wasn't even pushing him as a viable opponent especially since he had lost to Eric Harding in their first fight .Had he not made it his mission we may have never got to see Jones on the losing end .
that's exactly WHY i hate tarver:rofl i'm a roy fan, through and through, and that loudmouth **** hit the jackpot catching roy on the slide and never shut the **** up about it
No I had Jones winning by 1 or 2 rounds against Tarver. So it's a win. It's a win...do you expect every boxer who won by split or mild decision to get that win taken away from them? That would be stupid, Jones won the fight and deservedly so. I am planning to watch the fight again really soon, so i'll score it again.
i just recently scored it again. it's one of the very few fights where i have essentially the exact same score and score the rounds the same every time. there is one flex round that i'm never posititve on but either way, jones takes it
I heard that Mcclellan / Jones was scored 3-2 for Gerald but GM had Jaw problem for weeks after the fight ..I wonder if their is footage of it somewhere ..
