As was Toney vs Ruiz and likely vs Holyfield.

Beterbiev knocks Jones out cold with a jab. Not an exaggeration.

Ah the inevitable 'Jones had a glass jaw and never fought anyone' trope which gets reeled out after every good LHW win. I understand that everyone might like or dislike certain fighters. But at least pretend to have a degree of intelligence or nuance in your argument.
Beterbiev is an excellent fighter. But so was Jones. He beat plenty of good fighters at the weight, solid contenders (and some former or later champions) like Hill, Griffin, Harding, Woods and, yes, Tarver. And when he beat them it was largely with ease. The chin issues only arose aged 34 - old for a speed and reflexes fighter - AFTER he'd been up and down from heavyweight. Prior to that he was only dropped once in almost 50 fights.
Was there a share of arguably undeserving mandatories in his LHW run? Yes, which he took to keep his belts. But show me a fighter who doesn't have these kind of matches on their record. If you want to make an argument he's not as good as Beterbiev or you think he'd win h2h that's fine. But let's not pretend Jones wasn't a terrific fighter. I lived through those years and he remains the greatest fighter - in or around his prime - I've ever seen.
Jones on points by the way.

Stylistically this would be the 2nd worst "modern" matchup Beterbiev could possibly take (the worst would be an actually focused James Toney moving up from 168).

Roy used to drop and beat up people that normally weren't dropped or beat up. I think Beterbiev would be in danger of being stopped.

He had a glass jaw but he'd still beat the breaks off Beterbiev. Too talented, too athletic. Beterbiev is basic.

What you all need to keep in mind is that Beterbiev is now 39 years old. He’s past his prime. Think about his prime years.

Hill's resume is trash at 175 outside of Maske and Tiozzo.

Virgil Hill is a hall of famer and made over 20 title defenses.

Montel Griffin beat James Toney twice.

Julio Cesar Gonzalez ended Dariusz Michalczewski's long title reign and gave him his first loss in 48 fights.

Clinton Woods never stopped in 48 fights RJJ was only one to ever stop him.

Eric Harding coming off a convincing win over Antonio Tarver.

Reggie Johnson a two weight division champion never lost convincingly until RJJ dominated him.

Mike McCallum a great fighter yes past his prime and above his best weight class but still a convincing win for RJJ and he carried McCallum over the distance aswell.

    James Toney P4P number 3 44-0.

Bernard Hopkins green yes but Hopkins never lost convincingly until almost age 50 and considering he's considered an ATG Middleweight it's a very good win in context.

Thulani Malinga beat Nigel Benn, Robin Reid. RJJ is the only one to beat him convincingly.

Beterbiev is a difficult stylistic match-up for Jones at 175. He is an active, often come-forward massive puncher, and Roy while often defensively baffling due to his sheer reflexes and savvy, was not a defensive wizard. With his IQ, traps, and sheer athleticism, he stands a fair chance of finding Artur in a way the inferior boxers wouldn't (and the punches hit different when you absolutely did not see them coming; also when in bunches), but given his general lack of showing against massive punchers, you just can't really claim Roy take him out with any degree of comfort.

Roy fought in an era that lacked depth.. He had one main rival.. he wouldn't make the fight.. preferring to roid up & challenge John Ruiz who was a terrible HW.. he then came back down and got starched multiple times in his mid-30s.. whereas Beterbiev just became undisputed at 40 .. the idea that these people can't touch Roy Jones is an absolute f****** joke.. western hyperbole at its finest..
