Hopkins wasn't the best version but he was still the next best MW.

Toney was the defending champion, p4p number 1 and the a side.

If he was weight drained that's on him.

    That's interesting.

Nevertheless, Prime Roy stops both of them under Marquis of Queensbury rules.

I'm a fan of Beterbiev (and Bivol).

He's currently the top dog at the weight.

But he would have serious difficulty landing anything on Roy, even on Roy's gloves.
Too fast, too athletic and unlike Dimitri, Roy had one-punch KO power.

Michael ranks higher on my alltime greatest LHW and by a good few places.

But head to head, my money would be on Roy.

I think Roy is an ATG. Beterbiev is all wrong for him stylistically. RJJ built his legacy on beating Toney and Hopkins. Two smaller, significantly weaker men than Beterbiev. And neither of those men pressured RJJ. Sitting back and trying to comprehensively outbox RJJ is suicide. He's too fast. Beterbiev would just bullrush him. Jones finishes on his back.

Jones feasted on guys who come towards him and Jones also had the power to put Beterbiev in serious trouble.

Have you seen what RJJ did to Griffin and Hill ? Beterbiev was on wobbly legs vs Callum Johnson.

Griffin and Hill are half as strong as Beterbiev.

Beterbiev is not hard to hit and Roy has more than enough power to banish any ideas of bullrushing out of Artur's mind.

After some early aggression from Artur, this settles down quickly to a boxing match.

And you KNOW who wins that .

Nah. Artur is not an early aggression guy. He stalks RJJ early with RJJ running away, potshotting, expending energy. RJJ begins to tire. Then Beterbiev flattens him.

Forget post Heavyweight Jones and think of the Jones before that, just look at each division he was in and look at the who’s who of boxing he beat going through these Divisions and the ease in which he beat them .Now let’s look at only his LHW reign,15 World title fights,3 of those being Undisputed fights and 5 of those being Unification fights. As already mentioned prime Jones would not have any trouble with either Bivol or Beterbiev. Everything Bivol does Jones does better and even Beterbiev who I am a big fan of does not have the movement or variation to trouble Jones . As also mentioned Hopkins Toney Hill Griffin and Tarver are not easy fights for either Bivol or Beterbiev.

Hill made over 20 title defenses which is more than double of Beterbiev.

Beterbiev's best win is a victory over a guy whose best win is a blown up welter. (And moreover many of us think it was a gift)

You talk as if beterbiev were fighting better oposition than roy.

I'm sure you're familiar with Monzon. AB is the modern day Monzon. The strongest fighter p4p on the planet. High ring IQ men. Calculated pressure fighters who never tire and ALWAYS see their opponent tire late. Both men are very unimpressive to the untrained eye. Their style is subtle. Sort of the opposite of RJJ who is very impressive to the untrained eye due to the speed.
