Two very efficient and crafty pure boxers who were only looking to outpoint their opponents using their fleet footwork, slick defense, sharp jabs, counterpunching, and ring smarts. They more than made up for their lack of any KO power with speed, wiliness, agility, and clever boxing craft. Miguel Canto (RIP) has often been seen as Mexico's version of Willie Pep and it's not hard to see why.

How would you compare the two in terms of boxing skills and technique? What area does one do better than the other?

Pep was more flamboyant and utilised more extravagant movement, whilst Canto was more conventionally brilliant.

Pep had the better footwork and reflexes, Canto the better jab.

Whist they went about it differently, both were masters at controlling distance, outboxing opponents, who often held advantages in height and reach, from long range.

Two elite, great, pure boxers, amongst the most skillful, but not most powerful, of all time.

    Top notch analysis.

I think Pep was more gifted athletically and flashy. Canto was certainly more textbook in his style and also showed a bit more inside game.

Guys like Willie Pastrano, Ivan Calderon, Joey Archer, Ralph Dupas are also cut from the same cloth. Fancy outboxers with limited power but still brilliant with what they do.

Any thoughts on the comparison? Can't help but see a lot of similarities with the two.
