Just wondering cause I plan on competing in the regional Golden Gloves this November and with school starting again, I'm usually only be able to box 4 days/week instead of my usual 5. I'm a slow learner so that one missed day may hurt me later on. Anyways, right now, I'm boxing 4 days/week (3 of them with sparring, 3-4 rounds each session). I also do 100 burpees every morning (except Sat+Sun). How bout you guys?
I guess it depends on your experience and level of competition. I usually sparred 2 or 3 nights a week when I was competing, not as hard on some nights if I had a match that weekend.
i train 8-10 times week which is ok for my age, obviously thats gonna go down now that school starts. Sparring? once in 2 weeks maybe.. dont spar often prefer doing padworks and shadowboxing until i get much better and faster. You already train enough for amateur boxing
When I was training 'full time' (before I went back to school) I'd go to the gym 4-5 days a week and spar at least once a week, never more than twice (and if I did it twice it would be on like Monday and then Saturday).
I spar 4 nights a week from 4 to 9 rounds depending on who my sparring is. If there are high caliber opposition i spar 4 rounds. If they're really green and all i can do is work my defense and jab i spar alot longer
What has worked out for me is sparring every time I train. Even if its with someone green it will still help your D, reflexes, and practice new combos/stuff. I recommend sparring 6 rounds. Also spar as many people as possible. It will give you more experience and diversity.
