Btw, when I post on it, I will only be covering filmed fights. There will be no limitation on era, although it will seem like there is, just cuz I'm not a big fan before the 30s, and I'm ignorant of the late 90s and 2000s (but working on that!).
I decided not to limit it to filmed fights as it's difficult to know where to draw the line (Does every round have to be available? What quality is the footage?) and it tends to penalise the fights that took place in the early years of the sport. Doesn't mean my own top 50 will include lots of early era heavyweight fights, though...
I get where you're coming from but how much is that because of the film quality, the time period it took place in or the fight itself? It's almost a fight that it would be better if no footage existed and we could just uncritically put it on the list.
That was on my list. I haven't seen it either as there is no film but I believe McVey was actually at that one!
I understand. I personally don't like to include unfilmed fights in these kinds of things though, cuz I don't know how many fights I've read were amazing brawls and all that **** and then watched them, and was like: "Hell, this is the most boring fight I've seen in months." No joke about that.
I forgot who made this thread lmao. I guess I'll keep going lol. W. Klitscko vs Sam Peter 1 (really fun for a Klitschko fight) Sam Peter vs James Toney Tyson Fury vs John McDermmott I David Tua vs Monte Barret Fury vs Steve Cunningham David Price vs Tony Thompson II Dominic Breazeale vs Izuagbe Ugonoh Whyte vs Chisora I and II Wilder vs Ortiz I Whyte vs Joseph Parker Wilder vs Fury I and II Anthony Joshua vs W. Klitschko Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz I Fury vs Otto Wallin I think thats all of em.
From the early days, by all accounts, Maher V Ruhlin draw was epic. Jeannette v McVea too and I liked Dempsey-Sharkey. Marciano-Walcott 1 and Holmes-Witherspoon also Holmes-Norton. Recently Povetkin-Whyte and Lewis v Vitali. Oh, and Foreman-Lyle plus Ellis-Patterson.
There are some Dempsey fights I like, particularly his destruction of Jess Willard. Absolutely brilliant!
Yeah, I don't think many would agree with me. But I just love some of the stuff in that one, and like you say, it's my list.
