The floyd vs. Pac fight should have happened in 2010 or 11. The build and all of the excitement has lost touch with reality. None of it seems real. I for one have simply moved on. I like both fighters and will continue to watch them, but I could care less if they fight. Bouts like khan v peterson 2 interest me more just due to the fact that it is real not some myth like the blair witch. Up and coming fighters are taking the limelight from those two megastars because they are simply fighting. Gamboa/Khan/Rios/Bute/Mitchell/Ward guys like those are fun to watch no matter the competition just because they are fighting and not talking all day, even if the crap occurs at the end of it, i see them fight decent opposition twice maybe three times a year. Screw the mega fight, I won't even buy it, its 2010 news anyways, I can just watch the highlights on youtube.com/hbo. At this point I would rather watch May v Cotto. better matchup at this point anyways.
you are going to watch the fight live with the rest of the world. i think the fight will happen i just know as a fan we have no control over when it happens. i just want the fight to happen before another fighter spoils it because when that happens my interest in the fight will be loss.
At this point there is no way the fight could live up to the hype. Unless it's some kind of combination of the Vasquez/Marquez fights with a little of Corrales/Castillo 1, a dash of Gatti/Ward and a smidgen of Holmes/Norton there is no way it could be worthy of the time that people have spent debating it. You're right, **** that fight, and **** May & Pac, they deserve each other. And we as fans apparently deserve **** all.
Yeah, this fight is as dead as it can be. Can't imagine Arum being too thrilled with this Gamboa stuff, either.
Don't really care if this fight happens or not especially after I had marquez beating pac last november. Maybe if pac beats bradly quite convincingly my interest will peak again.
Everyone will still watch this fight, if it ever happens, but no one will give the result anywhere near the significance or respect that they would have 2 + years ago. It will be a fight not to miss, but the outcome will be practically meaningless, full of asterisks.
I don't get too pumped thinking about these two fighting anymore. Back in 2009/2010 I did, but too much time has passed, the Marquez gift is still fresh in my mind, both have declined since this fight was first being talked about, and there are other fights to look forward to. Plus their attitudes and inability to get this fight done turn me off as a fan of the sport.
I'm much more excited for Gamboa-Rios., if it happens. Also much more excited for the possible 122-126 fights that could happen with Donaire, Moreno, Mares, Juanma, Rigondeaux.
