After initially only releasing the name of Verdejo, the WBC has now released the complete list of who where removed from their rankings for not enrolling to their Clean Boxing Program for year round testing by VADA. There are a couple of usual suspects on there of course, and a couple that stand out, but there's also one that has alreasy tried to reverse the WBC's decision to remove him from his mandatory position. Amir Khan's team has already contacted the WBC that they want to enroll anyway, and try to get the mandatory position to Garcia's belt back. I myself think it's good the WBC released a complete list, because otherwise people would have extrapolated their own list, comparing the old and new rankings, while then names would have been on that who were removed due to inactivity, being surpassed and things like that. David Haye – England – Heavyweight Jean Pascal – Canada – Light Heavyweight Jose Uzcategui – Venezuela – Super Middleweight Gabriel Rosado – USA – Middleweight Vanes Martirosyan – Armenia – Super Welterweight Daquan Arnett – USA – Super Welterweight Amir Khan – England – Welterweight* Lamont Peterson – USA – Welterweight Rances Barthelemy – Cuba – Super Lightweight Felix Verdejo – Puerto Rico – Lightweight Emiliano Marsili – Italy – Lightweight Henry Lundy – USA – Lightweight Yuriorkis Gamboa – Cuba – Super Featherweight Hairon Socarras – Cuba – Featherweight Cesar Juarez – Mexico – Super Bantamweight Edivaldo Ortega – Mexico – Super Bantamweight Emanuel Navarrete – Mexico – Bantamweight Gideon Buthelezi – South Africa – Flyweight Brian Viloria – USA – Flyweight Moises Calleros – Mexico – Light Flyweight Javier Mendoza – Mexico – Flyweight Angel Acosta – Puerto Rico – Light Flyweight Janiel Rivera – Puerto Rico – Minimumweight Carlos Buitrago – Nicaragua – Minimumweight Simphiwe Khonco – South Africa – Minimumweight source: seen it
One thing to consider here is that I think (just a guess!) the fighters have to pay the VADA costs themselves. If that is correct then it is understandable one would only partake in the program if a fighter has a prospect of fighting for a WBC title in the near future. Otherwise why pay VADA $25k a year to get tested? We would need a program where all sanctioning organizations agree on VADA testing and mitigate the costs for fighters. It needs to be "free" to get tested. Why don't the sponsors hop on, guys like Nike/Adidas/Gatorade etc. They have an interest for a clean sport.
wish they would take the same stance with their champions and make them fight their mandatories instead of letting divisions stagnate and fighters procrastinate I wont hold my breath though the we breed chunts
Wasn't Khan mandatory for Garcia? Bit of a silly move for Khan if so, i think a Khan Vs Swift rematch would have sold well and was probably his second best payday available at the moment behind Brook. Do you think we will now see Khan cash out against Brook next year then retire after the inevitable KO loss? I hope so as boxing needs to rid itself of all these glass mandibles and duckers for good. In 2017 we need to see epic KO losses for. Khan Price Joshua Wilder Canyellow (his chin will be china if he fights GGG) Scott (coming in 2016 vs King Kong) Kid Chocolate Broner Plus anymore china chins you want to add.
khan is done at top level brook khan fight as passed to many excuses for when the inevitable happens you will hear khan say things like kell was bigger after moving to 160 I'm not in my prime had the fight happened rah rah rah my hand still aint right my weight was not right training did not go to plan its virgils fault I had to much fluoride in my toothpaste eddie hearns distracted me pre fight people in the crowd were wearing hats to many haters about etc etc etc khan as took to much damage for kell to get any credit and now khan comments on how kell fought ggg khan I put this to you shut the ***** up instead of talking the talk you get in the ring with ggg and show us what you would do lofl its gone from a stadium fight to a bang average arena fight and khan cant move sh 1t in uk
I believe the fighters have to. So, that gives the lower weightclasses and lesser names a good excuse not to fight for the WBC anymore, but for the bigger earners and certainly highly ranked guys it's quite telling.
Exactly, the lower weight guys are lucky to make 50k a year, so if they're paying for this program out of their own pockets, it's a rip off. A lot of names on that list are journeymen or shopworn fighters already on their way out, so it's understandable that they choose not to participate.
Have to tip my hat to the WBC, they are obviously serious about this program, how effective it will be I have no idea but it's a start and I'm sure it can fine tuned over time and I'm sure other governing bodies will have to do something similar.
No real point unless he wants to go the WBC route to a shot. If he ever wanted to change his mind it would be an easy enough obstacle to overcome.
Yeah maybe, depends how the WBC work it, I have no idea, I would think you'd have to be on the program for a period of time before you would get ranked and be eligible to fight for a WBC title or nobody would sign up. But like I say, I really don't know how they are going to work it over time.
This is indeed the case, also to make it an even and fair playing field. The whole thing with year round random drugtesting is that you can't cycle off easily and never know when tested. If you just start a couple weeks in advance, then you get the same half assed testing we had for years in boxing.
