Anyone use any of the muscle compression clothes out there, like Skins, Under Armour etc??

I've just ordered a pair of these
    http://www.bsccompression.com.au/elite-athletic-tights-black-c-688-p-1-pr-96.html

Been having troubles with gettin sore knees after I've been out for a run 2 or 3 days in a row.. i know its not my shoes as I've got a pair of Nike Free Run 2's and they fit fine and are comfy as.

no major pain or anything just enough for me to not enjoy it. Mate of mine swears by the BSC leggings and says they are heaps good and will help stabilise my leg muscles as well as support my knee and help to keep it in place and not twist in ways it isn't supposed to.

Am keen to see how they work.

anyone else got any stories or pro's and cons of the compression gear?
pretty much everyone i know who wears it says they are great and well worth the money.

I wear skins. Can't really gauge how they are for recovery as I have nothing to compare to.
They are good for keeping warm tho.

Don't know if they'd be much good for your knee. They don't feel like they provide that much stability.

Your knee pain could also be caused by tightness in you ITB.

I started wearing Nike knee sleeves when I started to get knee pain. That didn't help much so I bought some Nike Free Run 2s. Still had knee pain though. Then I started working on fixing my form. I dont get knee pain any more even without the knee sleeves.

Very simple saying - If it hurts don't do it.

You seem to know what's causing the pain yet you carry on regardless. Try not running 2 or 3 days in a row. Maybe even stop running for a few weeks and do some other form of cardio.

Knee pain isn't something that you want to attempt to cover up using knee sleeves or compression clothing. It hurts for a reason.

Compression clothing isn't going to do a thing for your knee.

    This ^

I wear a long sleeve compression top for grappling, because it's hygienic and comfortable. I wear compression shorts because it keeps my junk wear it needs to be, especially grappling or running.

I haven't read any studies or seen any evidence showing any kind of benefit to training in compression clothing, I've heard vaguely that it improves recovery time and reduces things like DOMS, but in my personal experience there has been little to no noticeable effect.

if your knee hurts it's time to switch to barefoot running :) Or use running shoes but make sure you run on your ball of your feet instead of landing on your heel.

I did barefoot running for a while and it's really good on your knees. if you don't like the idea of barefoot, you can buy minimalist shoes which give protection at the same time stimulate barefoot running.

    go google it :)

I feel there's a little bit of a placebo effect when wearing fancy gear, obviously not for injury prevention, but my motivation increases when I wear cool gear. It also changes my frame of mind from English teacher to boxer. Psychology is a powerful tool in boxing.

Other than that it's bull**** marketing, ****ing knee sleeves. 'Do you want to fight? naw man, I don't have those sleeves for my knees and my bicepts look small in this loose t-shirt.'

I wear UA compression gear, but it does nothing for my surgically repaired knee, I just find it comfortable.

Either you have flat fleet/fallen arches or you have crummy shoes that you think are good. Clothing will not improve your knee pain. Worst case scenario you will have to use another method to build your endurance. This could be rowing, this could be basketball, this could be riding the bicycle, or this could mean you have to walk during fights and can't bounce around. Joe Louis is generally considered to be the 2nd best boxer and did very little "dancing" he had foot work, but its not necessary to dance to box. Its not necessary to be able to go more than a brisk walk really Just make sure you can at least walk the distance. If you have a knee problem and keep running it will get worse. You may also want to reduce the amount of days you run or switch to skipping if it is less painful.
