ggg was actually skipping towards brook in several instances. each time brook flurried, ggg would wave him in to give the fans a show. he just had nothing to fear from brooks punches.
Yeah I agree, I do think Golovkin was surprised by a couple of the later shots and rethought things, I think he underestimated Kell a little after his first impressions but then he just geared up later and beat the hell out of him - if Golovkin had just gone full clinical the whole way then I'm sure a lot less would have happened to make GGG look vulnerable, but then it wouldn't have been quite so much of a "drama show".
I guess because he didn't try and hide the fact he cherry-picked a welterweight and dragged him up two divisions
Just a quick pointer for all you compubox casuals, here are the four criteria for scoring a round, only ONE of which is directly influenced by punch stats. Clean punching: “Clean” punches are punches that land on the face/side of the head and the front/side of the torso. Effective aggressiveness: A boxer demonstrates this trait when he consistently and successfully moves forward in a controlled manner. Ring generalship: The judges favor the fighter who controls the pace and style of the bout. Defense: Boxers that skillfully incorporate defensive maneuvers receive credit in this area.
It's a very impressive site and I really like it. I might like punches/misses just for the entire round though, in addition to breaking it down to 20 sec intervals as you have it now. Mainly because scores are given for the entire round.
Not gonna defend the fight because I agree that it shouldn't have been made. But he was actually trying to make a fight with Eubank Jnr but that went tits up so Brook stepped in as an opponent. No cherry pick in this.
watching the fight the perception is especially in rounds 2 and 3 that brooks was out-landing golovkin by a large margin.
interesting site I will be saving this site to look at more later thank you for taking the time to do this.
I've been following boxing for 22 years. I have seen many fights where a fighter is in deep trouble on the verge of being KO, and they beg the corner and ref to let them fight on. The reason it was stopped was because Brook's corner knew this was a farce of a fight and it was not worth Brook's health.
Brook could have lost the sight in that eye if the fight went any longer. If you cannot see with both eyes the fight must end. If it wasn't for the eye he would have lasted a few more rounds, but it was GGG's left hand that did the damage.
Brook would have been busted up really badly if it had been allowed to continue to the inevitable knock out outcome.
Did you watch with the British commentary? They were gushing all over Brook until the 5th. Then its like I hope he makes it, will the fight go the distance? Good stoppage. lol
