HBO compubox fabricated punchstats once again. LOL!

WARD DID NOT OUTJAB KOVALEV PERIOD.

    Good info.

Kov wins round by round scoring (each takes 6 rounds but Kov got the knockdown).

114-113 Kovalev based upon the round by round scores there, and including the knockdown.

Lands more, lands harder, outlands 6 rounds plus a knockdown, loses fight. Of course, compubox is usually crap.

Even with those possibly "cooked" stats, Kovalev still wins 114-113.

all these people going on about compubox.... tbh looking at the stats there.... Even there it shows ward dominated or at least had the better of the fight. Fight is won by boxing.... basically to simplify....the one who lands more jabs.

Power punches and effective punching comes into it too.... but clearly kovalev didn't land many otherwise ward would be out.

What those stats tell me is Kovalev had a big round 2 where most of his power punches count could have accumulated.... unfortunately for kovalev even if you outscore your opponent hundred power punches to 0 in round 2.... you only win it 10-8 (assuming only one knockdown)..... so yea kov may have landed more power punches not throughout the whole fiught though.

What i saw was ward out jabbing him and knocking his head back sevewral times and digging into the body much more effectively that kovalev did.

CompuBox is always a joke, regardless of how one feels about the decision tonight.

It shouldn't exist, it shouldn't be part of boxing telecasts imho.

Except for the fact that Kovalev outlanded Ward throughout the rounds as well (split even from above). Which makes the knockdown the deciding factor. You saw jabs and head snapping? I saw blood, bruising, retreat, and Ward on the canvas.

This sort of reminds me of the O.J. acquittal verdict and how white people responded.
I hope they don't riot and steal stuff.

blood and bruising don't mean sheet... otherwise loads of fights would be judges differently... provodnikov for one would lose lots of fights.... ward bruised in his last fight too...and guess what this is boxing when you get punched in the face you bleed....just like kovalev was bleeding towards the end of the fight.

I saw Kovalev backup more than I have ever seen before.... Ward fought how he wanted Kovalev didn't.... That tell me Ward was the ring general not kovalev. Ring generalship wins you rounds in the 10 point scoring system too.

A lot of ******s here think round in the 10 point scoring system shouyld be won by nose bleeds....idiots

Bruising and bleeding mean nothing really? So then what we should just get rid of ringside doctors and let fighters continue until they pass out (and potentially die) of blood loss? Brusing, swelling, blood, etc.. are all clear VISIBLE effects of inflicted damage and they very much count in scoring a fight. They of course don't tell the whole story, but they give an insight as to whats going on.

Head snapping is a nice touch (I agree, looks good) but it says very little after. Doesn't say how much damage the punch gave other than it landed. Kovalev walked through them pretty well. Not saying they don't count, but they definitely didn't do more than say the first jab that wobbled Ward in the first round.

The round by round compubox stats actually disprove what your think you're proving. Kovalev had the edge in total punches landed because he landed (or was credited with landing) clearly more punches than Ward in just two rounds. He outlanded Ward 16-3 and 21-16 in the 2nd and 10th. But boxing's scored round by round, and that's only two rounds! For 10 of the 12 rounds Compubox just doesn't give a clear picture of what happened.
