    Judges' scores

    1. Larry Layton 113-114 Briggs

    2. Calvin Claxton 114-116 Briggs

    3. Steve Weisfeld 114-114 Even

Opinion- Although this fight was close, I personally felt it could have gone slightly in favor of Foreman. It wasn't the worst robbery I've ever seen, but I really think Briggs got a gift that night.

No I don't. I haven't seen that fight in ten years. If you run a few searches on google and yahoo, you might come across some articles that will be a bit more helpful, or maybe some other posters here have a better memory than I do.

    I've got 'em.

    Foreman - 284/484 (59%) ~ 157 jabs landed, 127 power landed. Average = 24/40
    Briggs - 223/494 (45%) ~ 57 jabs landed, 166 power landed. Average = 19/41

Foreman was more accurate, both threw about the same, Briggs did actually land notably more power shots. Foreman bossed it with his jab though, and that made me give him an 8-4 win in this fight.

The judges, for whatever reason, went the other way.

Big shame for Briggs, because it totally overshadowed the fact he kept on fighting in there, got through some very heavy shots, and even had Foreman backpedaling from a body shot late on I seem to remember. It would've been one of these situations where the loser comes out looking better. Unfortunately, he was the winner and that didn't sit at all well with the boxing media...

Sadly, I can think of a few worse than Foreman-Briggs.

No worse than Foreman vs Schulz.

The shultz fight was definately a robbery but probably not as bad as Foreman-Briggs. I think Axel deserved the decision, but it was still a close fight, or at least closer than the Briggs fight.

Though the stats show that Foreman outlanded Briggs....this fight is a good example of why punchstats is a bad barometer to score......
.....according to the stats, Briggs outlanded Foreman in power connects.
Even if those stats were accurate, I say Foreman had the edge in power connects as Foreman's jab, is a power shot!

......and I too feel that Foreman clearly beat Briggs!
