clean effective punching is not equal to number of compubox counted punches

compubox is only a tool by which we are given a statistical description of the fight... and it is still subjective

Round three atually had equal punch stats based on compubox. It was the round that both had equal amount of punches connected. You may be concentrating to much on the first half of that round but onceJMM got stung, he was battered, thereby equaling those punch stats.

I am not saying that we should score fights based on punch stats but it is one of those tools that wcould look on a semi-objective basis. Remember that we are looking at the fight at a hindsight. During the fight, biases of boxing fans clouds their perception of how the fight went. Infact some idiot score the fight 9 rounds to 3 rounds.

If we are to have an objective post-fight assessment of the fight, all available tools should be used. May it be meticulously counting how many punches were actually landing through slow-motion, tc, etc. As to the reliability of compubox result, it may off by 2-3 punches a round but I read that it is actually counted similar to an amateur fight. Meaning majority should score it as a connect before it is score as such. The pay-per view of your even most expenive LCD screen would not give you the actual feel fight because it is still two-dimensional (unless probably you want to watch it a less than 3x the normal speed).

Now, some JMM fans were actually using compubox stats to bolster their claim that JMM actually outlanded Pac. While true, it was taken on the context of the entire fight. But the ebb and flow of the fight happened on a round per round basis. Like the round where Pac got the cut, he was outlanded 21-5. On the 3rd round, the punch stats were actually equal except for the glaring thing that JMM was KDed in that round.

Compubox doesn't mean ****. I swear its not even close to accurate most of the time. I had JMM winning a very close fight, but I can see where you'd have Pac winning if you gave him the close rounds. The judge who gave Pac the 12th round should be banned from ever judging a fight again though. I know it didn't affect the outcome, but that guy is a ****ing idiot.

I am a big Pac fan and am also beginning to be a big JMM fan. It was a damn close fight and I personally had the fight a draw.

    BUT IT WAS NO ROBBERY.

You are overboard as well. No way in hell did Pacquiao finish stronger. Pacquiao fans even gave JMM the 12th round and many gave him the 11th round.

Boxing scored by rounds and not by total volume of punches thrown or landed

Why people take Compubox so seriously is a mystery.
