Some of the more recent fighters need work on their ratings as their ring abilities were not completely defined when the fighter database was last updated. I'm told a team is working feverishly to re-rate many of today's stars to have them ready for the next release in a couple of months.
One great aspect of this sim is that if you don't agree with a fighter's ratings you can, with a little research and experimentation, re-rate him to what you think he should be.
I own it. It's funny to me how Cory Spinks is a beast on that game. Cory Spinks UD Roberto Duran Cory Spinks D Pernell Whitaker Cory Spinks D Emile Griffith Ray Robinson SD Cory Spinks LOL. Good times.
Wait, I dont get it. Is it a game you control or do you just select fighters and watch em duke it out? Both sound entertaining though.
Worthless sim! I did Taylor vs. Pavlik and Taylor knocked Pavlik down 4 times overall for a 9th round TKO. The bout was completely one sided and Pavlik was more gassed in round 9 atschatschatsch
you don't actually have control over the fights do you? Also can't you create your own fighter and do a career?
Questions from a fellow poster. Sorry I could not respond to your PM for some reason. "...I have always wanted to try TBCB but just never had. It is pretty good then? (I think it's better than pretty good. I've been messing around with one version or another for more than ten years.) Question, if i purchase the current version do i have to buy the newer version or will it just update? (If you purchase the current version, I'm told you get a substantial discount on the newer version.) Also, I hear that 2Ksports will be doing a boxing game!..." (Don't know about that. Haven't heard any scuttlebutt yet.)
Wouldn't know about that, I tend to stick to the heavyweights. I do know that there is a ratings team organized to select and re-rate some of the more recent fighters as the database has not had an official update in a couple of years. This work will be present in the upcoming V.2.5 However, some on the board have taken it upon themselves to re-evaluate and recalibrate a lot of the top little guys from the last few years. You can download from them.
Geez! I see what you mean. Imagine Marciano knocking out Joe Calzaghe! He only outweighed him by a stone and a few pounds. There is an option in the sim where you can remove the weight difference between two fighters prior to them duking it out. I've never used this though. :thumbsup
To answer your first question, you do have some control over the strategy your fighter uses if you choose that option. I prefer to just set up cards and let them go at it, while I sit ringside and count the receipts. :deal You can create your own fighter and, with some imagination and a little help from the TBCB community, manage him along to a title shot. Matter of fact, one of the best features of TBCB is the terrific rankings system. Makes keeping track of everyone a whole lot easier.
I chose some guys at random against Spinks and got these results: Zab Judah WU10 Spinks Michelle Piccirillo WU10 Spinks Jorge Vaca D10 Spinks Roberto Duran (Lt. MW) TKO 6 Spinks Check with some of the rest of the TBCB community on the forum to see what results they get. Of course these are results of one fight each. If Spinks fought these guys a hundred times he might win sometimes. :bbb
Everyone I know thought that was a pick-em fight. Two good evenly-matched heavyweights. Anything can happen.:nut
