Picked up my September issue of The Ring, inside was an article matching Joe Frazier v Mike Tyson and Ray Leonard v Floyd Mayweather Jnr using Computer Box Stats. They arrived at the following verdicts . Frazier beats Tyson by 12 rds TKO. Leonard beats Mayweather by U Dec. What do you think of their findings?
How do these computer box stats work? Mayweather had the best stats for hitting and not being hit in boxing history, Leonard landed far less punches during his career, he used to go for long periods in fights where he wouldn`t throw any punches and he had far less fights, in their 30`s Leonard was getting hit far more than Mayweather, computerbox stats are complete nonsense, they score shots that are blocked and stuff.
I don't think Mayweather has enough over Sugar Ray Leonard to overcome the size difference. I think I'd pick Tyson over Frazier though. Not that sure though, I think either could make the other look pretty bad.
You are completely off base here. Ray Leonard threw FAR MORE punches than Floyd. In fact, Leonard often landed more punches than Floyd even threw. Floyd generally only threw 40-50 punches per round. There are numerous fights where Ray LANDS that many per round. And, Ray punched much harder than Floyd. Did you only watch the last few fights of Leonard's career or something?
If Tyson had Frazier in trouble he`d put him away, Frazier would be more likely to win by TKO than a legit KO because he had less power.
