How embarrassing is that. Although not half as humiliating had it been at Slimming World, "bloody hell Trish, what have you been eating, pebbles"?
Can this PPV get any more low rent and sleazy? The legalised equivalent of GBH as a main event, the support fight that is driving the show being sold on threats of violence afterwards together with water and tables being thrown, all rounded off nicely by a ''world champion'' failing to come near the weight. Thank the Gods for BT pumping money into the sport next year, because given free reign Matchroom would have steel chair shots at press conferences, salt thrown in the face of the referee, and 2 versus 1 fights in 2017.
What an unprofessional cheating POS. If he tries any low blows then he needs to get DQ'd straight away. The Salido model shouldn't be one we encourage.
You don't know he is cheating yet in fairness. We can't just assume he is following the "Salido model". He may have simply outgrown the division...he is in his 30s after all. This has cost him his title after all.
I think it's bad news for Yafai. I don't like it, I really don't like it, a couple of ounces I can put down to a miscalculation, carelessness or the fact they just can't shift that last little bit of weight but well over 2lb is a blatant attempt to gain an advantage in my opinion.
I imagine it will cost him some of his purse too. I remember when Paul Smith badly missed weight against Ward for the weigh in and morning rehydration weigh in he was fined a big chunk of his purse which SOG then kindly donated back to him. I imagine the same stipulation is in place here and Concepcion has had to pay a portion of his purse to Yafai. And Concepcion is hardly going to be cash rich from his career.
Indeed ...and Yafai is not a global superstar...a huge name, where beating him might be worth giving up a world titleAND as you say, likely a big fine too. If this is a "tactical" move by Concepcion, as some are suggesting, it is a very strange one indeed.!!!!!
