Concerning PBF: what could Cotto do that Hatton and Castillo couldn't?

I wasn't one of the people under estimating CQ vs PW, infact i said it'd be alot closer than most people think.

Just like I won't fall victim to the masses saying Cotto and PBF will be close it wouldn't. I wouldn't be shocked by an 8 point margin UD.

I think Cotto is the only threat to PBF right now.

    * jab consistantly
    * Counter from time to time
    * switch stances to give PBF a different look

He will, of course, attempt to pressure and swarm, but not with the same recklessness as Hatton, and I think he won't be inclined to follow PBF around the ring in the same fashion as Castillo did in the second right.

Doesn't mean he wins, but you'll likely see Cotto utilising these tactics during the course of the fight.

And, likewise, I wouldn't be shocked at any result, ranging from a victory as decisive as that for PBF to a victory that decisive for Cotto.

Well, he is a better, harder body puncher than Castillo, and is simply a bigger, stronger, more powerful fighter as well. Not to mention Floyd is not as good at 147 as he was at 135. Seeing this, and seeing the trouble(arguably losing) that Floyd had with Castillo at 135, I'd say at 147 Cotto would be one hell of a tough one to figure out.

Hatton isn't even worth consideration here in comparison, far too sloppy and open, I picked the fight to happen as it did. Floyd picks apart sloppy pressure fighters like Hatton and Jesus Chavez, guys like Castillo and Cotto are different deals.

cotto has a fast jab that people dont give him credit for.

sure hes open for alot of counter pounching but pbf is also open for a jab as well which can offset him also.

i would expect PBF to win the giht if they fought but no way would he just dominate...

it wouldnt be like judah/pbf where zab did good first 4 rounds...this would be back and forth all night...both guys are great at implementing thier strageties...

I know what cotto could do that hatton didnt.

Not get utterly rocked the entire fight which led to him getting KTFO

He has more power than either of Hatton or Castillo.

He also takes a better punch. He's stronger than either of them and would have a better chance than either one to beat Floyd.

At 147, I'd give him a 43-45 % chance of winning. That is to say, I would have Floyd as a slight favourite.

Power speed and boxing ability he can mix all these and thats what it takes to bring down PBF effective pressure and strength in the clinches.

I agree 100%, beat him to the punch, catch him coming in, make him aggressive or turn his defenciveness against him, that is, if he is blocking that means he is not punching.

Cotto has a lot more handspeed than people realize. He can take a good shot and really works the body well and harder than Hatton as Cotto is naturally stronger. He would have to deal with the slick defense and counters of Mayweather, but as we have seen Cotto was able to land effectively against both speedsters Judah and Mosley. I don't see any really big challenges to the crown at the moment other than Cotto. This fight would be guaranteed big money and I don't see why Floyd doesn't lobby for this match!

I agree partly however Cotto can counter with the best, he also has a quick and powerful jab and a punishing body attack....PBF has his hands full anyway you can imagine it....Cotto is very intelligent as well and would be the ring general in this fight....I doubt PBF survives 12 rounds:-(

Cotto is stronger and punches from round one to round twelve, which would be a real problem for Void Mayweather.
