He looked exhausted to me. He slowed down massively, calmed his breathing and got a bit of a second win. Not acceptable at his level in my opinion. This isn't a 15 round fight or the championship rounds.
He does'nt tend to do conditioning training, if hes a wise man (which i think he is) he will consider incorperating it into his training
i do agree mate. its gona be harder with the klits if he cant slip that jabwearing him down. ruiz had nothing on his punches IMO so didnt really affect him. i hope all the media work didnt cut down his training but if it did at least he knows where he's gone wrong:good
he has better conditioning than 80% of other heavyweights in the world! this is only an issue as he looks like a beast, and has great definition compared to the others. therefore, his blowing and puffing (he didnt look as good as usual) is being overplayed
I completely agree...i've just rewatched the fight and at no time (IMO) did Haye look like he was gassing. I'm not sure what people want or expect, compared to the modern day crop of jab, jab, grab heavyweights Haye looks like a relentless dynamo
I completely agree with achilles. he was blowing hard after 1 round. he hurt ruiz early and went after him, every punch a 'hayemaker' and this combined with wrestling ruiz off him and throwing him off meant he was gassed after 1 relatively hard round. he was quiet 2nd, 3rd etc as he was conserving limited energy. against someone good defensively, good chin and high workrate he is going to be in trouble. i saw far too many things which reminded me of thompson fight which against another opponent will spell trouble. haye has been lifting weights for too long and neglecting the conditioning aspect of his training imo. should get enzo c in charge of getting him fit! i really like haye and want him to win but I fear for him after that fight and think if he cant sort conditioning out he is a disaster waiting to happen. think this will be more of an issue than the chin.
Haye did seem to be breathing heavily very early on against Ruiz, but does this in a lot of his fights. Haye seems to expend a lot of nervous energy in the first few rounds, which I would put down to inexperience. He gets a bit wild when pressured, especially when on the ropes. I think if he learned how to tie opponents up and spoil a bit, he would conserve his energy better. I wouldn't say Haye has great stamina, but being tired does't seem to stop him knocking out opponents late on in fights.
