Hsrdy a typically overhyped British fighter, UFC has a vested interest in hyping them up. I bet against the Brits in all fights last night and it turned out well. Pyle was 4/1 dog against the raw Hathaway.,...**** me.

I won £10 off a drunk cockney sitting next to me in the 02 saying that Condit would beat Hardy :)

This unfortunately is spot on. I must have seen about 200 fat guys with Tapout t-shirts and Hardy hairdo's at the 02. Hardy got a terrific receptionwhen he entered the arena, and showed class in defeat. And I won £10 with his loss too ''Hardys gonna knock this guy spark out mate'' ''Wana bet'' hehe But British MMA fans have a long way to go to be educated on the sport
I had to explain to someone that Cyrill Diabate wasnt Anderson Silva. ''Well he fought Shogun in Pride'' ''What the **** is Pride mate'' ''He was a coach on TUF'' ''Oh thats my favorite show''...
Im not even gonna mention the guy who thought Royce Gracie trained Akiyama cause he wore a Gi to the Octagon. Or 'kung fu suit' as he put it....

Yesterday's Expo was choc full with guys like that. I had a Clinch Gear M1 Fedor hoody on. I had guys pointing at me either thinking im a fighter or trying to figure out what i was wearing. Now i have alot of fight wear. But every time i wear something some ****** comes up to me and wants to know what dojo i fight out of or if im a pro bla bla. The first one that would have said "What is PRIDE" would have got a patented Bas Rutten palm strike to the bridge of their nose.

Haha well he was bigger than me :p But he did seem to be appreciative of when I said and I told him to go home and get a hold of some of the Grand Prixs for starters. I just dont think the majority of UK fans know the difference between MMA and the UFC brand

Well unfortunately Terry that is the truth. Was surrounded by guys who were screaming 'Knock him spark out!'' for the entire 5 hours .When the fight went to the ground a chorus of 'Stand um up ref'' started immediately too. To be fair most of the ground action wasnt of a great standard, but the same guys were screaming and whooping when Bisping took Akiyama down...
And David Haye had to be escourted from his seat to sit with Dana Octagon side when he was surrounded and hassled but about 100 drunk 'fans'
''Lookit's Joe Organ, and that other guy'' was quote of the night. Not sure if it's the same elsewhere but us Brits have a long way to go to appreciate MMA and not just the UFC

British "MMA" fans think the UFC IS MMA. Half of them dont even know what MMA stands for or the fact that there are other fighters outside of the UFC fighting in other organisations let alone the history of the sport.

basically your annoyed because ufc is starting to gain some casual fans and you dont like it because "you watched it first". Dont worry these people wont try and educate you on the history of mma, they will just enjoy the UFC for what it is and eventually the more they watch the more they will appreciate the ground game and stand up styles. Nothing to s*** yourselves about.

There does need to be a happy medium; as leicester says, new fans aren't going to be knowledgeable if they haven't done something similar like box or wrestle, which most will not have.

It is a part of the sport growing.

Nowt wrong with being a casual fan, but confusing Anderson with Cyrill and ''kung fu suit'' takes the biscuit. If your gonna spend £40 on a Tapout shirt don't strut round like a tough guy and boo the ground game when you know **** all about the sport is my point I guess

That's true, but as in all walks of life it's the empty vessels that make most noise. Dont mean to tar every Brit fan with the same brush but the vast majority were ignorant of the sport as a whole. If just one of the days who I was talking too checks out Pride then its his gain and the others loss. No skin off my nose at the end of the day

Maybe thats true, but they still earn my respect 1000 times more than someone who types ''lollolololol'' in a message board
