are you a crazy 90 year old man,

yes getting stronger is tottally not useful for a combat sport give me a break,

this is why almost every boxer-wrestler,mma-kickboxer in the last 30 years has done weight training.

please keep your 1950s backward thinking to yourself,
    training makes you stronger,
certain excerises can even make you faster.

ps have you actually even boxed?

ps for a heavyweight a lot of training can also ruin the guy's knees

i agree with you 100 percent but too add something
i think that once you do become more experienced
your body gets more wear-tear on it
and the weights become even more needed to keep injuries away.

You don't need weights though. Bodyweight training will suffice.

  6. There are a lot of compound plyo movements that can involve weights. Useful for functional strength

    load of ****

and yeah, I've boxed and I still do. I'm currently trained by Ike Quartey's ex coach.

    have you?

  11. Functional strength is geared towards Sports specific training. Every bit of training helps out but specific training for fighting yields better results. If you don't plan to get too sophisticated then it's no big deal.

Main levers, Elbows and Knees, ankles, are worked by muscle and tendons. but the energy output is not constant in a movement, concerning Boxing or most sport. So using weights, which are constant, upsets the Bio mechanics of movement concept. 1st 3 inch of any movement creates power and technique, after its down to Balance of movement.

That's what I thought you meant, and I agree.
