A good training programme has various facets, with this in mind I would advise you to use both aerobic conditioning in addition to interval training. If you use intervals correctly you will notice faster improvements in your conditioning. Another benefit of interval training is that it will help you to maintain muscle mass; look at a marathon runner in comparison to a sprinter. Personally, I skip in the morning at a steady pace before commencing a dynamic stretching routine, just to help me loosen up for the day. I then skip again in the evening as a pre-workout warmup.
I would aggree with Bodi, go back and forth between interval days and straight jump rope for minutes days.
