:good:good:good Fantastic post. Spot on. I think deep inside Diaz probably new he was losing because he was going for takedowns. When do you ever see him do that.
I hear you.. Having a few days pass to let the title and topic at hand settle in, I can agree on some levels. Such a profound statement can be a little too much for some of us, and I jumped down you're throat because of it :!: The style that CC and Dominick Cruz employ can stink up the joint for many of us fans.. I enjoyed the fight this past weekend, but about half of the fans on here did not.. In bold is something I agree with, and can no longer argue against.. Dominick Cruz has half the striking power that Condit does, this is the style that works for him, but you're right.. If these safety-first, lay n pray, potshot-your-way-until-the-final-bell strategies are trending in MMA or only in The UFC.. It will do more hurt than help for the sport.
Didn't see the fight but generally speaking if fighter Red doesn't make adjustments and Fighter Green is and does engage to his comfort then you have to blame figther Red for not adapting. You don't win with just one method it's called Mixed Martial Arts for a reason. Instead of complaining about Condit's mobility Diaz should've cut the cage off, slowed him down, and took him down. Again, did not see the fight just speaking generally. Snap N Fap? Wow that's horrible lol
I think the major difference you and I have on this fight is that you thought Condit won fighting this way, and I didn't. I thought Diaz won the fight. I saw the first 2 round similar to the way you describe your hatred for Condit's approach, and thought Diaz landed the more significant strikes. I thought Condit's game plan started paying off in the 3rd, and thought he won rounds 3 and 4 convincingly. I thought Condit was inflicting more damage in those rounds, as opposed to the previous two. It appeared that Diaz' pressure was beginning to work against him, and his effective aggressiveness turned ineffective as he began to tire. I think Condit was on his way to winning the 5th, but Diaz took his back and took that round on my card.
Some people laud gameplans constructed to avoid engaging and to run the clock down. They are pragmatists. But not all people agree with this mentality in combat sports. And thank heavens for that.
If he said that he didn't enjoy it I wouldn't argue with that. Each to their own. But to not rate Mayweather? If you're a boxing fan saying that then you're watching the wrong sport.
