    I agree with you on this one Ishy (that makes a change :)).

    Nearly all my favourite fighters are Mexican, while I reckon relative local boy John Duddy looks rubbish and will never make it to the top.

    Ethnicity/nationality/religion isn't that important to me in boxing; it used to matter more when I was younger (the old tribal thing) but not after I got deep into the sport. Nowadays I feel it is more a thing for the Joe Public footie fans.

    Though I admit that when a Brit fights a foreign fighter I will support him (as long as the opponent is not one of my faves).

    No love for Iron Man Khan:think


    For me it was:

    Calzaghe
    Barrera (one of my favs)
    Cotto (one of my favs)
    Pavlik (never really liked Lockett, and his attitude in the run-up to the fight was way off).

    I like them all.

    Haye - Fairly cocky guy and i suppose it would be easy to dislike him but its great to see a heavyweight with some speed and skills. A british heavyweight champ would be great for boxing in the UK too.

    Hatton - Seems like a decent genuine, down to earth guy. If you had a few pints with him you know you'd have a laugh. Has made the most of his talent and beaten some good boxers along the way.


    Khan - By far the most talented out of the four. Honestly dont see whats not to like about the kid. Entertaining style, great speed, and comes across as a nice kid. Also admire the way he's come back from the prescott defeat. It turned out that MAB was shot, but nobody knew till fight night, and Khan took a risk fighting him.


    Froch - Been folowing his career for a long time now. Talks big but i dont mind that and reckon he's gonna go over to the states and shut the yanks up big time. Fight against Pascal was a cracking one. I Like his akward style.

    I thought so as well, and said as much, but there was no way to know for sure untill we saw him fighting.

    You would have to think that Roach, with his contacts, may have had more of inside look into this situation than the vast majority of fans. I said as much before the fight.

    Its entirely possible that what looked like a high risk/high reward assignment to many ordinary boxing fans may have been, in Roach's eyes, a medium risk/high reward bout.

    However, Barrera always had a punchers chance regardless and fair play to Khan and his team for taking the match-up.

    The fact remains though that Prescott is the only prime, decent level / decent KO rate LW that Khan has fought so far, and he sparked the kid in under a minute.

    As far as skill sets go Haye, Hatton and even Froch are still a fair bit ahead of Khan.

    Khan has damn fine handspeed and footwork, but his punch resistance is terrible and he still has a mountain of work to do on his defence if he is to compete with natural LW and LWW contendors.

    DeGale won a gold at the Olympics; should he automatically be PPV?
