When I first started fighting I was really confident, Even though I wasnt that good. I am 5-0 now and I feel less confident then when I first started, I dont know why has anyone ever felt this way and if so what sort of things did you do to get it back.
That's a bit odd to be feeling like that, Id understand if you were 0-5 and your confidence was down. At one stage I had a 13 fight winning streak and I had I had never been more confident, could it have something to do with your technique or not improving in certain areas of your game and you feel frustrated? Or perhaps it could have nothing to do with boxing and it could be a personal issue.
I think it might be becuase Im not confident in the ring, at my gym I dont get to do much sparing becuase theres no one to spar with, So when I fight I have been winning off heart and constant relentless pressure, But My fights are prolly alot harder than they have to be if I had more sparring and better technique i guess...
Its the closest gym to me I would have to drive an hour to Kronk in Detriot and I cant do that 3-4 time a week. My trainer really just lets me come in and do whatever He doesnt push me to do anything or show me new stuff or talk about my fights and tell me what I did good/bad is that normal in most gyms?
Naw that aint normal especially that your active in the circuit. Why dont you have a talk with him and tell him you'll like to take this more serious and to push you more... Other than that I have no idea what to tell you brah, good luck
ill, you're in a tough position. but it's not hopeless. take advantage of technology. there are some pretty knowledgable people on this site. you can post some videos of your fights here and you'll get plenty of feedback. that will affect you're entire training regiment. ex. - if someone notices your jab is more of a push than a snap, someone here will catch that and let you know. can't hurt to try it out right?
it takes me almost an hour to get to my gym and back again boxing sessions was 6.30 -7.30 but i didnt drive so would leave work at 5.30 and get home about 8.45 using public transport Christ if it was a gym with a reputation like the kronk i wouldnt hesitate!
Damn I'm 0-5 (sounds epically ****....and yes, it is ****)....you should have bags of confidence at 5-0
I would definately switch gyms, you seem to be going very well with what sounds like a very average trainer. A trainer should always be telling you what you can work on, encouraging you, organising sparring if you can't get any at your gym. Switching gyms could give you the boost you need as their will be other fighters their that you can work in with, just make sure it's a credible gym though.
Amateur boxing got more politics than professional boxing man, you was started too early ? Why you feel you havent won one yet ?
