It all comes down to who's pressure is more affective, Hatton proved that his pressure is definitely more affective against top fighters.

Apart from Phillips beating Tszyu i would like to know who else Phillips beat that makes you think he would have Hatton out in under 5.

Exactly, apart from Tszyu Phillips lost to almost every other "top" fighter he faced.

Prime Vince Phillips would undoubtedly KO Ricky. Anyone who believes otherwise hasn't followed Vince's career (and are probably too young to have watched anything except the end period of his career which is why they underrate his skills).

The majority of his losses came after he was about 36 and he was talented enough to be somewhat competitive until almost 44 (which is no small feat). He was only stopped three times in his career. One was a from a bad cut (he had some trouble with cuts in his career) in seven rounds against Jones (who was a decent southpaw fighter who fought for the title against Rosario (KOd by in 6) and Whitaker (12 dec for Pernell) and even got a stoppage of an ancient Julian Jackson in his very last fight), the next was against a tremendous Quartey in the third and he got up off the canvas but the ref rightfully stepped in (this fight was in St. Maarten and Vince threw over a 100 punches in the first round), and the last you'll recall was the Millet fight when Vince was just nearing 36 years of age.

He was 35-3 when he fought Tsyzu and had moved down from welterweight. His other loss pre-Tsyzu was a split decision to Ellis (who was an Olympian). Vince was a pretty damn good fighter who had some out-of-ring personal issues but when he was right he was quality.

He was FAR more skilled (and tougher) than Ricky and would have beat his ass.

Phillips failed a drugs test after the Hatton fight and he still kicked his ass n took that brutal uppercut right on the chin n walked right thru it!!!

Hatton haters what you gonna do when Ricky retires!!! Im guessing Khan will get the abuse!!!

I think it would have been an excellent fight actually.

The respective versions that faced Tszyu.....

Hatton would be capable of outboxing Phillips - pretty much in the way that he did in the actual fight... but Phillips could land that blow....

Both guys were terminators on those respective nights.

There is no doubting this would be a great fight still...Id put my money on Phillips though.
