Few details left to sort out before Hammer/Povetkin clash is official. Povetkin/Parker fight will be held in July. I think it will go to purse bid and that means fight will be held in Russia.

Povetkin easily flattens the Romanian, won't even be competitive.

They should skip the Hammer/Povetkin fight and just make Povetkin vs Parker

So what is Parker doing in the meantime?

Surely hes not gonna wait 10 months between the Fury fight and this one? He looked stale before, a long lay off like that will not help him one bit

Hardly a waste of time if it makes you mandatory. I mean it is for the fans because it's basically a foregone conclusion but not from his perspective; back in June Povetkin wasn't ranked by a single organisation, come new year he'll have had 2 fights against easy opponents and now he's mandatory.

That's 6 months very well spent if you ask me.

The real question is for how long can Parker, Deonkey and AJ avoid Povetkin for?

The tactic seems to be wait until he gets really old.

maybe not for Povetkin but for the fans.

Parker better cash out soon then... take the Joshi fight for unification.

By the way, why hasn't Hammer's loss to Fury been overturned yet? That's what started it all, right?!

Hammer is not good enough to pose a challenge for Povetkin. However, I like its for the WBO mandatory spot because that sets us up with Povetkin vs. Parker which could be an epic fight. Really hope that happens in 2018, ideally in Moscow in a huge venue.

Agreed on that. But if it gets Povetkin back into title contention then it's worth the wait, it's not like anybody was going to give Povetkin a voluntary, is it?

Povetkin/Parker will be a barn burner. Both like to be on the front foot, they are two of the better combination punchers in the division and they both have pretty decent punch resistance.

Povetkin stoppage in the first 3 rounds. Not much to look forward to but at least he'll fight Parker after that.
