3. Calzaghe couldn't get motivated for Bute or anyone else

5. You've made up that thing about Calzaghe being beaten by a Romanian in the amateurs...

 

I heard #5 mentioned a couple times. Whether or not it was ever true I never really found out. Amateur fights take on this tendency of becoming more myth than substance over time. I was just having some fun anyway. I know the fight would never be made at this point.

I lost a bit of respect for Joe when he signed to fight Roy. The outcome of the fight was an obvious one to everyone other than Roy's deepest nuthuggers. Even Joe himself called Roy a shot fighter, yet he still chose to fight him.

If he fights a young hungry fighter like Dawson as his farewell fight, that will make up for all the respect I lost for him in the Roy and Manfredo fights
