Sounds like Whyte is part of the deal to me. And once AJ vs Fury one and two is over he will likely move across too.

looking at what Hearn has been saying over the last few weeks it seems that his plan is to make inter Matchroom fights all over the world and have fighters fight across territories.

wouldn’t surprise me if we see Kerman Lejarraga win this weekend we see him in the UK against Fowler or Cheeseman. Then winner of Cissokho vs Conway fights Madrimov in Uzbekistan or US.

I think we potentially see a lot more championship fights no longer on PPV. I feel like Okolie vs Glowacki will be the norm and not a rarity

In perspective if as it appears will be the case it’s for 12-14 shows a year that’s £1.4-1.6m a card. My understanding atm in Sky’s average card is £250-350k a card.

That’s a huge increase but DAZN are smart and know they will not be driving subscriptions unless they have either solid 50/50 fights or marquee names like they do in the US with Estrada vs chocolatito. Buatsi vs Calic days as a headliner will be long gone. I think we will also see Hearn go in hard with offers to the likes of Queensbury for Buatsi vs Yarde

I just dont see Hearn changing his ways and getting his UK stable beat. Boxing is about dragging it on for aslong as possible and i cant see that changing just because DAZN are in the game.

SInce I only really watch Sky Sports for the boxing these days, and rely on Match of the Day to get my football hit, I'm likely going to cancel my subscription and switch to DAZN. The only things I might miss are Ashes Cricket and the World Darts. I couldn't care less about other sports tbh.

I think he's going to try and he'll give it a bloody good go. Will he succeed? I doubt it. Will he of carved out a new era for MR boxing and made stupid money from the sport..Yes!
At the end of the day...not even Eddies ego is as big as boxing and it's history. But he will herald a new approach and create new markets. Long live the king!!

Sounds like The Athletic article is largely true from that iFL interview.

A reboot of the commentary team is needed but I’m not entirely sure who is available at the current time. Does Adam Smith still get to call the Joshua fights for example or is he binned off entirely?

You say that however he’s got no PPVs to sell and now it’s only fights. His contract is guaranteed so I think he knows he needs to follow the ufc and make the fights people want to see.

Bly way this works for hearn and dazn is putting on regular cards that people want to see. Must watch tv essentially

Got a feeling that Chris Lloyd will play a prominent role as Hearns a big fan of his and he is very solid.

I think judging by the Canelo cards Hearn wants to go heavy on a young commentary team amd shows with plenty of fireworks etc.

I think he wants to create big events.

Surely he will for two bouts as Sky apparently have rights to them. After that, he won't be commentating on Joshua unless he's up against a Sky affiliated promoter.

Or has there been developments I have missed?

Chris Evans knows little about boxing but could provide a better commentary than Adam Smith, Matt Macklin, Toni Bellew and Carly Frock types.

DAZN have had their pants pulled down, mega-money for Saturday night fight level, basically paid a fortune for the likes of Katie Taylor and others, none who are really figure pullers

I don’t work for Matchroom. Have a good knowledge first hand of the boxing industry particularly on the business side. That’s all I can say really
