5 judges x 3 rounds = 15 rounds total Only 2 rounds were given to Joshua. I don't fully understand the scoring system in the amateurs so can someone please explain to me how Joshua got the decision? Were the 2 rounds given to Joshua by a wide margin or something? Baffled :? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ol...Anthony-Ogogo-reaches-middleweight-eight.html
Can a mod please make Joshua vs savon official thread, merge the two dozen others into it and sticky it please
Wow. Bunce was on 5 rattling on he said that that he has been shown a scorecard where it added up to 53, but he could assure listeners that it was just a 'coincidence', what he meant I have no idea. A coincidence that scorecard was on the official website. He also claimed that when they add up the scores the don't include the highest and lowest mark for each round. If that is the case Bunce, why did the P.A announce a 52-52 score when it would have been lower. As for Phil Mitchell, if you are getting wound up by threads on the Internet at five to three in the morningmy suggestion is you ignore it and go to bed.
Aiba explain it on this link: http://www.proboxing-fans.com/aiba-...-in-kytrov-ogogo-olympic-boxing-match_080212/
Three judges have to score a punch within a second for it to count. So it's very possible that a lad can throw a combo, land all the punches and score nothing, because the judges aren't synchronised. If they wanted a punch scoring system, why not just have judges scoring indepenedently and then announcing the decision as unanimous or split?
thought they now just take an average score now of what each judge has scored for the fighter at the end of each round thats why we dont the scores through out the round anymore
Why not forget all this, just use the scoring system from the Pros. Works for Prize fighter with the 3x3 rounds.
yeah but who won? That's right Joshua. So stop ****ing moaning and get behind our boys. They're good.
As has been mentioned this system is no longer in use. The current system takes the scores of the judges with the 3 most similar scores and takes any average, if the scores of the judges aren't 'similar' they discard the highest scoring and lowest scoring judge and take an average. The countback as far as I'm aware is all 5 judges scorecards added up and then divided by 3. When this was done in the Ogogo fight it amounted 52-52. The scorecard that appeared online was for the 3 judges who's scores were used during each round of the contest to give us the regular scoring for the bout, hence why there was a difference between this and the countback score. So to my knowledge the countback scores were all added correctly, there was no mistake and Ogogo was simply the recipient of a very lucky decision, not a corrupt one.
Whoever designed either system should have their head plugged into the national grid. There'd be no need for fossil fuels or nuclear power. Both systems are sheer madness.
The new system isn't that bad as far as using a computer scoring system goes, the problem is incompetent/corrupt judges just like we see in the pro game. I'm in favour of the removal of headguards and vests for the next Olympics, but I know some would go further and like to see something like the professional 10 point system in addition to that. For me I'd then say what's the point of a distinction between professional boxing and amateur boxing, they'd be the same sport bar one you don't get paid for (unless you get government grants, in which cause you do), and you fight less rounds. The other thing I'd like to raise is when bad decisions and robberies still occur like they do in the pro game, what would be to blame then ?, the judges ?, well they're already at fault just they get a pass as people blame the 'computer scoring'. The current system was a big improvement over the 3 judges within 2 seconds type of scoring previously used, and the type of boxing and quality of action has improved as a result. Maybe improvements could be made to the countback system, but other than that I think they've got it right, it's the judges that need to be looked at, not the system.
The AIBA have released the scoring for the Ogogo contest, and explains the countback system (which I incorrectly guestimated at above) being used. Judge number 4 had the bout 19-15 in favour of Ogogo atsch http://www.iaba.ie/aiba-precision-with-regards-to-bout-118/
Im going in the opposite direction on this one and think the ten point must system should be brought in but with 5 judges scoring and keep the head gear for safety reasons
