:yep You can tell from his interviews last night that he reads the websites and most importantly listens to what the fans have to say, its a stark contrast to Fwank, who couldn't give a monkeys toss about the fans and treats them like a piece of ****.

 

That is a little different though. Because Audley was the underdog, and really Eddie did a phenomenal job getting that fight for him. Great promoting really. Haye is the one to blame for taking the fight.

 

I hope so too, but let's never forget he was the one who effectively forced Haye-Harrison. Ultimately he's a businessman and he'll make decisions on that basis.

 

Sky told him he had to take it or he wouldn't be on PPV.

I dont'y think Eddie was to blame for Haye v Harrison being PPV. Similarly, for Khan v McCloskey he slated Khan for going to Primetime rather than SkySports.

 

I recall Hearn taking a bit of stick for saying Audley had a chance, after an episode of Ringside I recall.

Let's face it, all he's got to do is not bring in opponents who's major selling point is having never been blasted into kingdom come.... and he's doing better than Allegedly.

I don't see how Hearn gets a pass for supporting such an utterly **** fighter like Audley at the expense of better fights. Hearn should be ashamed of himself more than Haye.

Agree with Roe. He got his fighter, a European Champion, a world title fight.

The fact the promotion was on PPV, & the undercard was tripe was down to Haye & Sky.

 

For every Haye v Harrison type match up from Hearn, there are 1000's of Cleverly v Karpency type match ups from Fwank, this week on Boxnation there were no fight cards at all to watch, poor form from a dedicated boxing channel.

 

But as bad as Haye/Harrison was, I don't see how it in any way puts Hearn down. He did fantastic getting that fight for his man.

The argument against Allegedly is that he usually just does the bare minimum for his fighters (ie Cleverly/Karpency, Ricky Burns etc). Putting Audley in against Haye was the absolutely maximum. It was nothing but brilliant promoting.

 

Fair point, To be fair to Eddie, the way Audley was banging on he probably had Hearn believing it himself.

 

Hearn isn't beyond criticism, but of late (and since he started really) he's delivering, so we should just enjoy it.

He's obviously been reading the thoughts of the fans on matchups such as Clev vs Karpency, which sounded like a wank fight from the start and was even worse (if possible) on the night.

What also encourages me is that he'll work with other promoters to keep his lads active - he's supplying undercard fighters in return for a co-promotion of Bellew vs McIntosh, and has done plenty of business with the Hattons already.

Meanwhile the likes of Allegedly and Maloney (and Hennessy FWIW) are living in the past.
