He's got a hell of a long way to go before he gets the same abuse as Fwank and the abuse is justified imo.

But it's the complete opposite. How can you really criticise Hearn for getting his fighter a big fight? That's what he's supposed to do surely :huh

Not to be a **** but I'm gonna use Haye's response here "it's your own fault if you thought the fight was going to be anything different to what it was."

You don't think, for the apparent saviour of boxing to make something so utterly dreadful, is a bit pathetic when he then criticises the quality of other promoters' cards?

    He should be ashamed.

But he was promoting the underdog and did a great job getting his man that payday. It's as simple as that.

Or is this some "business man makes business decision" news shocker?

This, at the time Harrison was one of Hearns main fighters and he had a small stable, can't blame him for seeing the £££ signs.

Well I can't speak for other people but I never personally knocked Frank for putting John Murray in with Rios. I thought it was a decent but very difficult opportunity for Murray but one that was worth taking (if he wanted it of course). The same with Chisora against a Klitschko.

Your Povetkin example is weak, especially when the man who supposedly advised against a Klitschko fight now has **** all to do with either. And you also can't legitimise Povetkin holding a bull**** title in any way. Is that good promoting? Maybe, like you say it saves him from a probable beating and gives him a few paydays but I'm talking about doing the maximum for their fighters.

A promoter has three main objectives among others: a) keep his fighters happy, b) keep the fans/customers happy, c) make money.

Hearn appears to be doing all of those right now and deserves the praise he's getting.

Ok, you don't seem to be following my point: Frank W makes good money for his fighters and himself (or certainly has in the past). That, however, seems to be held against him. Yet Hearn forces a fight that his man has no chance of winning and is a complete insult to those who bought the PPV, and that's to be applauded?

Yes, he was doing his job, but it'd be nice if people didn't proclaim Hearn as a saviour when he looks very like most promoters to me.

  10. I'd like to see Sky give promoters a list of dates and say ''first come, first served''.

That would open up the market to guys like Coldwell and also Spencer Fearon to have a crack at putting together a really good card - Dave seems to have done alright in the small halls and Spencer despite being a crackpot always comes up with the goods, very few mismatches on his shows.

Would be good if Sky said to promoters that were proposing fights the week after each other to stick them on the same card.

Fighters I'm sure want to fight more often, this is the way they can do it.

As opposed to the Allegedly way, where even if the lads took a 50% pay cut per fight they wouldn't fight twice as often. And can't get a good opponent either.

And that's fine - that's his job, but I wish people would look at Hearn's behaviour a little more holistically. You can't say on one hand that he's showing other promoters how it's done, when the biggest boxing event he's been involved in was a complete farce.

You don't seem to be following the point of many other people in this thread and the thousands of fans that enjoyed last nights show. Hearn is doing very well for his boxers, is putting on good shows and listening to the fans. Meanwhile Frank is suing websites, creating his own crap channels and changing the name of his business once again to get out of money trouble.

You're probably right that Hearn won't be that much different to other promoters in the long run, in terms of bull**** titles and putting business before what fans want. But right now, he's doing a good job for everyone involved and deserves the praise he's getting.

We're obviously going back and forth on this and it's fair enough, it's all opinions. But I'm gonna stop now cuz this is going nowhere.

Again a bit different because as you said, Briggs ended up with **** all from that fight bar a week on hospital food. The worst Audley got from the fight was a torch in the eye and a place on Strictly.

I acknowledged that - I think he's done good stuff recently. But you can't say "he's a great role model" when his most successful effort so far was in setting up a complete mismatch.

He needs to make this last for a couple of years and, I don't know, get his guys a title shot they can win.

It was a good nights boxing last night. They obviously promoted the main event incredibly well, the atmosphere had a special feel.

They got a bit lucky with Hope proving to be much improved and Proksa super ****, I think even they expected that to be a mismatch. Frampton opponent was garbage, didn't even land a proper punch.

But still, those criticisms of the undercard aside it turned out to be a cracking night.

Completely different situation. The world and their dog knows the only reason Murray was in that fight was so ol' fish eyes could secure the international TV rights for BoxNation. Sure if he won it would have been a bonus, but Murray had done his job as soon as he signed the contract to take the fight.

As far as I'm aware there haven't been those sorts of ulterior motives as far as Hearn is concerned. Yet. :tong
