What a great great performance by Andre Ward last night. All I hear is inter continental rivalries, bitching, excuses but that was a great boxing performance. He performed better than Calzaghe managed against the same opponent and Calzaghe all hating aside was a great fighter

Ward outboxed, outsped, outmanouvered, outfought and showed some P4P type boxing skills against the previous no1 SMW Kessler. Thats a massive achievement, its on par with Mayweather-Corrales. The kid has gone from nowhere to rightfully being number 1 in the division despite having a lack of experience. On the downside he doesn't have great power but he hurt Kessler a few times and beat him senseless and Calzaghe and Mayweather werent known for their punching

I predict Ward will dominate Abraham/Froch/Taylor, I think he heats Dirrell who will be trickier.

Kessler was only ever a paper champ but props to ward.

Froch vs ward final because dirrell will get robbed against AA.

Ward looked good- the man got his opportunity, and instead of being content doing just enough, seized it with both hands (with an assist from the head).

I respect that attitude: the guy deserved to go home as a champion last night. I can't wait to see how things shake out after round 2!

We will see wont we?I havent seen anything that makes me think Froch cant win this.He beats Taylor, its 50\50 against Abraham and Kessler and as for your other 2 Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire well they might be quick on their feet but they are hardly going to have Carl shitting himself!
    :rofl

I thought after beating JT, combined by Frochs poor performance that Abraham became favourite along with Kessler.I still think AA will win it but Ward will be a definite threat.
    AA will KO Froch

I just can't get over people thinking that Froch is a threat in this thing. He was outclassed by both Taylor and Dirrell. Now, before you Englishmen begin with your fiery rejoinders, I realize that he won both of those fights. However, Taylor clearly dominated until his limitations were admittedly well exposed by Froch, but look at what Abraham was able to do against Taylor for a comparison. Hell, even Pavlik, who many Europeans consider to be horribly overrated, handled Taylor more convincingly in both of their fights. Dirrell, on the other hand, took Froch to school and decidedly won the fight unless one, in my opinion, excessively penalizes him for being "negative."

At the outset, it was Kessler and Abraham who were the real favorites, with Ward and Dirrell as dark horse types. After the first round, it's hard not to have Abraham and Ward out in front. This is especially so considering the draw that Ward has remaining. He's quite likely to reach the break rounds undefeated.

froch vs ward could be pretty one sided. he seems to have the workrate and stamina required to win a shutout against froch

Froch-Ward's going to be the "old school" fight in the tourney- I'm thinking like 1920's style. Real Ugly, real dirty, and real rough.
