The mere fact that unaccomplished guys from a division below can have success moving up doesn't provide sufficient justification to regard Alvarado and Rios specifically as likely to have success in that division.

I see no reason to project them to be particularly notable welters even in comparison to someone like Guerrero. I thought Guerrero would beat the **** out of Rios even when he looked at his best when both were at lightweight and the fact that he appears to have regressed if anything doesn't make me revise that stance.

But it does away with your blanket dismissal of the guys moving up. Just for the record, is Ward sub Bellew at LHW?

Fine, I was convinced that Rios would murder Guerrero all along. Robert is too weak.

In ranking terms, yes. More to the point, unaccomplished guys from a division below (which is essentially what Rios and Alvarado are, not the Wards of 140) have no compelling reason to be regarded as superior to even marginally accomplished guys already there.

    Rios is too dumb IMO.

I dunno, I'd put money on marginally accomplished Edwin Rodriguez vs better established LHW Karpency etc

Yeah, Rios is no unpredictable genius like Aydin.

If you want to talk about dummies go to kids r us, and restock your supply fool.

Jmm has constantly taken the short end and made Paci-OW look a fvcking idiot to boot.

Now the slimeball Arum ( with Paci_OW's ) backing is still offering the Mexican comparative peanuts although he KTFO the useless *****.

He offered him 13m, that 2x JMM's career best. It's probably around 40% of his career total earnings.

What fighter passes on 2x career best for a supposedly easy fight, in the name of memories

2 aggressive fighters coming off losses, Alvarado was injured, whatevs. If people want it, they'll buy it. If they don't, they won't.

    Well said...

This is a good match-up of two tough, offensive minded fighters... with alot on the line for both... I'll take that matchmaking any day. :good

And Rios is far from an easy touch IMO, when Pac is coming off such a devastating KO. Call me a sucker, but I'm tuning in.

I can not see how anyone could see this fight as anything more than a tuneup. Rios is a b level 140lb fighter at best. And according to many people on here, Pac is the best at 147. How is that even? I am not knocking Pac for the fight, he should have a tuneup after a ko loss. Just call it what it is.

I guess Hopkins doesn't know much about boxing:

"Brandon can punch. Are you serious? They are brave as hell. Listen, if Pacquiao fights this fight after getting knocked out like that - I have to take my hat off to him because that's a brave move. It's a not a good business move, but that's a brave move. But I guess they want to come back so quick to show that he's okay, but to me that's even worse."

So, at least Pac is a PPV caliber fighter. GBP is going to put Broner vs Maidana on PPV too, and that is much worse than Arum putting Pac vs Rios on PPV.
